TOKYO — Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp, a major U.S. movie distributor, will adopt the Blu-ray disc standard for next-generation DVD players developed by Sony Corp and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co and other companies, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported Sunday.

Did a search but didn't find this, just delete if old. However, I do wonder how much this means for Blu-ray. It'll be an interesting fight. :)

If you want it in bad quality. :p
?

Blu-Ray sucks? Or are you commenting on the size? I thought they had 80GB disc.

Hoply Lucas will be dead by the time it gets ported anyway.

I think we can also add MGM and Sony pictures movies on the Blu Ray Bandwagon

If WB and Universal follows through.... looks like HD-DVD will die... a painfull death

Haha. The size, yes. I'm not sure. The standar dual layered one is 54 GB or something like that while they're working on a quad layer thats 200 GB(!!!).

No way, if so, I hope someone continues his reinvisioning, and most likely will. At least give me that CGI Yoda in TPM. Horrible puppet was used in that one. That, and I like seeing people bitch.

But yes, I'd buy a 1-6 set if they didn't whore out the price.

The point is, divide it by 6 movies, and you're in the ballpark of what you'd get on a double-layered DVD now, so it would look essentially the same. IF you give each movie its own disc, though, they can be in high definition and with fewer compression artifacts, which are the sorts of things that really makes any newer format shine. And really, if you're buying a 6 movie set (which aren't cheapo $1 movies or something), the money saved on printing fewer discs will be pretty negligible.
