This is still my favorite non-HBO show but at this point it feels like a major retread of Season 2. There will probably be a twist that differentiates it from the other seasons, but that's also pretty much expected at this point.

Annoying Family (Marie, Reza, all that shit) vs. Interesting Family
Kim Babysits and Meets Grave Peril vs. No Kim at All

I'm liking Season 4 even more now that I think about it.

This episode was good; it wasn't anything brilliant, but it did a good job of showing us a strong transition episode. It was kind of the episode where Jack and CTU learned about the things we already knew about, Re: Train Bombing and the like. Sure, there was a correlation before, but now everything is all fitting together nicely.

Now, we've got an interesting situation where we've clearly got the American Dude as being the real bad guy (Shades of Season 1's villian switch, perhaps?). Where we go from here is really, really interesting. Clearly, finding the override is the immediate focus. But where from there? All we have is an obvious figurehead for that situation, and no idea who he is or what is going on.

But seriously...empty office buildings? Curtis, you idot! That should have been Jack's mission, he at least would have gotten something out of it. As it is, Curtis just got himself captured. Sigh..

Next week is hour 11...we're nearing the halfway point, so we'll see if this gets resolved anytime soon. Looking forward to it. I spent a good deal of the hour at a friend's house, and it was on in the background and I could hear the ticking of the clock every commercial break, reminding me I was missing it. Had it taped for me, watched it after, but still.

awesome episode. i'm beginning to like this season's lack of loose strands -- there's no "kim" subplot (palmer was last season's kim). and the real-time format seemed to be working particularly well this episode; lots of satisfying moments when they'd cut back to jack just when he would be arriving somewhere. next week looks awesome too. i wonder if they'll just keep it to the reactor meltdowns through most of the season...though that wouldn't be very like 24. hee hee.

My theory for the rest of the season (spoiler tagged naturally due to a spoiler of a returning character)

The sitting President will turn out to be connected in some way to the companies behind the planning of the attacks, which is why Palmer is returning in the last six episodes to kick ass.

Wario64

works for Gamestop (lol)
Heh, I wonder who's back...it seems kinda obvious unless it's a minor character that I'm not thinking of

They have to be under the Department of Defense the way Heller seems to get everything he wants, although in real life I would think they'd be under the Department of Homeland Security.

I think CTU is actually under Homeland Security - at least, I'm pretty sure this was mentioned in a previous season.

And as for the speculations about presidential politics,
I'm not sure, but I think a saw some shots of D.C. in the promos? I don't remember those being used in the season so far, so it must be from an upcoming episode

Nice episode.
It was thrilling when Jack was in that Plot Room, with all the photo's and maps! Poor Curtis, hope he makes it out alive!

Remember, we aren't even at episode 12! So much can happen, I only don't now what! :lol

Sweet episode, Tony IS back to show Erin how to get things done, did anyone else find it hilarious how Erin has gone from power hungry bitch in total controle to having a little Jack mixed in to her office, and within a few hours she is Heller's bitch, and making deals to have any controle? God, Tony is just going to take her down further, come on back to CTU Michelle, you and Tony can work it out!!!

Hahaha, that would be an awesome scene.
Michelle enters CTU and sees Tony giving orders to CTU employees. I want to see her face! :lol

My man Edgar hasn't used his trump card yet!

Edgar "So... Sarah, you know I single handedly saved you from that torture session right? PS- My mom just died"

Dude should get Chloe back and have a 3some

asking dangerous questions
CTU's stupidity is starting to annoy me.
I mean, really!

Doesn't look like it's getting better anytime soon either - Driscoll's daughter is gonna get kidnapped or something eventually..

actually aside from the incompetence of CTU agents and recurring situations (
i mean we KNEW things were gonna go down at that empty office building, they really should change things around a bit. also we KNEW behrooz was gonna kill his father, otherwise it'd have been too easy to torture him and get the information about the override device
), the episodes are pretty damn nice so far. good pacing, good action, tony is back.

I agree with your assessment and if you think about it the happenings at CTU sort of mirror this (in regards to Erin abusing her power).
