The reason why I'm so excited for this is because it will be utterly completely fresh, yet still undoubtedly 24.

- Jack, Heller, Audrey, Chloe are all back
- Cochran, Fury, Callery, Cassar and Gordon are all back (like, the entire OG production team)
- Set in a completely different country, no links to USA and therefore completely different look to the show
- New rules (no guns in the uk, although that doesn't look like it's stopping Bauer!)
- God tier casting (Stephen Fry in a major role as the Prime Minister)

and best of all

- a neat, concise 12 hour season of non stop balls to the wall ass kicking action. It will be 24 on steroids - the true return of the Jack Bauer Power Hour with no unnessecary filler!

(S8 spoilers ahead)

Is there any chance at all that Yvonne Strahovski isn't a
US CIA/FBI/CTU agent who's in London to arrest Jack and bring him back home for his litany of crimes
only to help him stop some dastardly plot.

not for a long time have been updated?

just checked i like the news, also Agent Pierce any info?

Season 8 still hits so low on my list ranking the seasons simply because they left Pierce out. There were a hundred opportunities to write him in, hell, even better than they did in season 6.

...I updated it a few days ago - the casting info is fully up to date. I'm on about a certain Twitter conversation which is listed in the OP.

I wonder if they'll include some scenes from the actual episodes or it will just be promo stuff
No, just the promo stuff that they shot is probably what will air.

Also, http://www.24spoilers.com/2014/01/31/fox-gives-big-promo-spotlight-24-live-another-day-super-bowl/

Chances are, however, they’ll have a little something extra. In the case of “24: Live Another Day,” for example, Fox went all out, setting up a special promo shoot in London, the setting for the miniseries, a few days before actual production began on the series itself – meaning the Super Bowl promos for the show will contain the first “24” action filmed since the original series wrapped in 2010.

The “24” effort will consist of a series of ten-second vignettes sprinkled across the evening that will lead to what the network bills as a “show-stopping” 45-second promo. They should capture a lot of attention from the show’s fans, because they will feature the on-screen reunion of the show’s best-known characters, Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer and Mary Lynn Rajskub’s Chloe O’Brian. Fox said the elaborate shoot involved street closures, ballistics, vehicles, pyrotechnics and explosions. The promos will feature a hardened look for the O’Brian character, best remembered as a computer nerd

So pissed in S8 when they killer her off, it was just more proof that 24 had really slipped in terms of quality rehashing the same tired plots to keep up suspense.

I guess it was necessary to force the "Jack has finally lost it" revenge plot. I thought Season 8 was pretty awful.

I'm currently rewatching season 7, the first 12 episodes are so brilliant. The pacing, the story, character development, the twists. Almost nonstop action and suspense, practically no filler and the typical White House dilemma actually ties in perfectly with what Jack and the rest are doing, which keeps the overall story nice and compact. Everything is excellent. If they can nail the same pacing for the upcoming season it'll be an awesome ride.

I'm more dissapointed than anything else that Annie Wersching hasn't done a topless/nude scene in her career yet.

I'm currently re watching too on S8 ep 7

The second half is also great, it could have been really the series finally with Jack dying in the end. S7 after re watching really grow on me as one of my favourites.

S8 has a very weak beginning, but the second half from what i recall is amazing with Jack loose canon mode, going against all he stand for.

Man, season 7 had me really happy for awhile. We had that great team of Jack, Tony, Bill, and Chloe, but then...

Maybe it could have worked if Jack hadn't built an absolutely bizarre amount of loyalty to her in the couple of hours he knew her. That shit is worse than Kim & the Cougar to me.

She corroded the Jack Bauer character. Jack is now meaningless, nothing but a groundless rabid dog, and as a direct result 24 is now meaningless.

Meh, I was hoping you were going for a pun with that "single-handely" bit, seeing as she cut that dude's hand off. :D

Haha what a wasted opportunity

I actually agree it felt like the romance was shoe-horned a little bit, although Jack understandably is probably prone to pretty volatile emotions. I'm just glad that Audrey, the one and only true woman for Jack, is returning.

What do you mean? They're constantly clashing the first half of season 7 but Jack clearly respects her because she knows she needs to do what is necessary to complete the mission.

I think the romance is more of an "two emotional trainwrecks finding comfort with each other" kind of thing instead of true love.

To each their own I guess, but I can't see how what happened in Season 8 ruined the show or Jack's character.

Renee's death wasn't the only reason why he acted like that. Anyone who has watched all the seasons should know all the shit Jack has been through, and how much he sacrificed for his country in exchange for nothing.

This has made him become increasingly jaded over the years, to a point where he just doesn't give a fuck anymore. In season 8 he didn't even want to get involved, and the only reason he did was because his daughter convinced him to. Then he gets involved and not only he fails at rescuing Hassan, but also Renee is killed as soon as they got laid, the President tries to cover up the Russian conspiracy and locks Jack down, and of top of that he finds out that Charles Logan might be behind everything. All in a span of just a few hours. You can't blame Jack for snapping after all that happened (if anything, it took too long for him to do so)

It's not like Renee died and Jack suddenly entered rage mode and started killing people left and right. If the President had listened to Jack in CTU none of that would have happened; instead, she decided to listen to Logan and everything started to snowball into a huge mess.

Absolutely, I agree with this. Still a little weird, but not exactly implausible. I also don't have a problem with Jack going ape shit, but at the same time his rage could have been better focused by the writers. It's good, not great, they had hit a wall with the format I think.
