Sure it's "possible", in the same sense that it's "possible" we never went to the moon.
But why would the US military make a new model of a plane, with two-decades old technology, air-to-air capable, that was never designed for air-to-air capability in the first place, instead of simply building a completely new plane, designed for air superiority with stealth technology. They could call it, oh, I don't know, the F-22 Raptor, for example.![]()
