AP gave it 2 out of 4 stars I'm reading stuff like "Misfire", "soulful", "coming of age" and "sidequest" hard pass. I'm going to wait for streaming.

I'm thoroughly convinced IGN has a magic 8 ball (or a 10-sided die) that determines the actual score and they just write around what it was
Well, I'm convinced it's going to be a 6 maybe 7. You've got to read between the lines. Ever since the star wars prequels you can't take reviewers at their word.

Jahns wasn't a huge fan.

That's the exact review I was waiting for.

He even says "This is definitely a critic's kind of movie...but I think audiences will be more divided"

Jahn's was one of the few critics who didn't give The LAst Jedi a positive review. I'm hoping this isn't TLJ again.

Another comment I read mentioned that Alex Garland's work tends to do much better among critics than general audiences.

This better not be another The Last Jedi situation.
All I care is it captures the tone and intensity of the original movies. Every time I watch them I just get chills down my spine. Not just the atmosphere of the movie but how horrifying the virus is. The infected are just so intimidating, so threatening. How fast they move, how fast they turn, the red eyes. You know at any moment a massive breakout could happen or you could run into a massive horde of them. That's why in Weeks later, before the breakout in that movie you were still scared as hell because you knew it was coming and when it did, it was going to be bad.

As long as this movie captures that atmosphere, tone I'll like it.

Just watched it. First 45 minutes is the best The Last of Us live action you will ever get. After that? It gets gradually more and more Looney Tunes. Like an 8 at best.

Coming out tomorrow. Watched the sequel again a few months ago and liked it more than I did when it first came out. Probably go this weekend

I never saw 28 weeks later or whatever it's called. Was that one worth watching? I have a flight in an hour so I've got some time to kill.

I'm not sure this will do well in America, heard it's critical of anti-vaxxers and people who made bad choices during the start of the pandemic.

I liked it, but not as much as Days Later. The opening scene in Weeks is amazing. It has its moments. Gets a little hokey at times though. Not surprising because it's not a Boyle project.

Just got in from watching it.

It's weird but I kept expecting it to 'get going in a minute' and then it ended.

There's some fucked up bits, there's some laughs and a WTF at the end (that I won't spoiler tag yet in case people click on it for the hell of it) but want to get people's opinions on in a week or so after others have seen it to see if they thought the same as me.

I just got home from seeing it and i gotta say that alpha has a massive meat. Everyone in the movie was good especially the boy. The ending kinda made me laugh, it legit reminded me of power rangers or something. The movie definitely has a different feel compared to the first 2. I think they may have even retconned the 28 Weeks Later cause it just ignores a lot of stuff from that movie. Overall i enjoyed it and i'm very interested in seeing where the next sequel goes.

Saw it in 4dx

It's just kinda weird, it feels like it's building up to something but then it just ends, like there's a whole 3rd act or even full half of a movie that's been cut.

The whole things feels different from the first and even second movies, like there's some kind of fantasy escalation that kept the virus going for some reason, for 28 years; you'd expect the entire population of Britain to be infected if it was that prolific.

Oh well, all in all alright, but I genuinely think the second movie is better, even if it has a bunch of hokey shit as well.
