3DS Streetpass Experiences

I'm on the second floor of the ghost house but I don't know whether I should be searching for the stairs on this floor or going back to the first floor and looking for the shop. I thought a character mentioned you can buy new guns from the shop and my starting gun has maxed out it's experience so it's wasted when I fight anything now.

The other day I got a Streetpass over night. Which is really weird since I'm living on the fifth floor of my apartment building, so anyone walking by would still be really far away.

If you find another gun of the same type and use it to upgrade your current one, the max level becomes higher.

Definitely complete the floors anyway as this is a source of plaza tickets.

Right I will do that then. I heard there is a hidden shop on each floor as well.

I've got to say I love the variety of the new games but Nintendo really need to increase the coins we get per day. I'm having to spend coins on 5 different games now (I never use them on the puzzles as I'll probably just waste them.

Is the 'Shop' that green orb thing?

I used a few weapons to improve my main one, but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet.

I love the new games, even getting into Garden more now after initially poo-poo'ing it lol.

Finding Squad tough now though with the late levels, definitely need a few more members than my daily usual Streetpasses (GF and spare Zelda 3DS system).

Mansion I got to the boss on the 5th floor but can't beat him, I've gone back down just farming chests and stuff now that I understand the game a bit more.

Hardly ever anything to fight though. I wanna test guns out but almost never come across bad guys.

The pieces you get try to plan with them (this is why it is good to play with a large queue). Think, how can I make rooms with these (rooms contain chests meaning more weapons). For any gaps what types will I need to finish it off. It is a balance between being greedy and sensible though (if you've not found the stairs and there is only a small area you can place tiles down in it might mess up plans you had). Small rooms are less likely to have high quality chests (apparently a gold chest is more likely when you make a larger area in a single piece placement).

Regularly passing Miis is an advantage here (more choice of pieces to choose from plus you can plan knowing you'll have a certain colour).

The green orbs (which I guess are what you mean by shops) are only found when rooms are made. The good thing about when a room contains one is if you extend the rooms of that colour you can re-visit. It does not let you buy weapons. It lets you access your storage and combine weapons (this uses gems you got from killing enemies) which increases their EXP and uses up gems. Combining the same ones boosts max level and the weapon becomes a +1. Doing it again makes it a +2. I don't think they go beyond +2. Weapons can be sold for 50 gems (60 if they have a skill). At least those values apply to my D rank ones.

Weapons are kind of like PSO (if you've played that). They can have skills and as a result you would prefer ones that have skills. They also have rarity rankings (which are a combo of how rare the weapon is and how rare the skill it has is). I think all except the rusty blaster can also do a charged shot for more damage. My rusty blaster has the counter skill though (don't remember if it came with it or another rusty blaster I found had the skill) so it is worth keeping about.

My rusty blaster +2 has a max level of I think 20 so it should be usable for a fair bit of the game.

Oh yeah. More gems are apparently got from battle by killing in one shot (you probably noticed more exp from taking no damage).

My regular streetpass is Red and my mansion floors are red. As a result I've encountered very few enemies. I get a lot more chests but I guess I'm missing out on a load of experience? Are there more benefits to a more diverse range of colours?

Wow thanks for the lengthy explanation : ) That is going to be a big help.

I've never played PSO but I know what you mean. I haven't made any chest rooms apart from tutorials so I need to make sure I'm doing that as I'm missing out on tickets.

The only problem with creating a lengthy queue of street passers is that I only regularly street pass with a workmate. So ususlly use his me and then spend a few coins.

Can you only make rooms if the pieces colour's actually match?

I think we're all still just working things out at this point.

Streetpass games must be interesting to try and balance. How do you make them playable if you get 30 passes a day in Japan, or 3 passes a week in a different country? Or if you just get one colour Mii?

I wonder if they change the progression for outside of Japan.

Ah the dreaded double tag. It is awesome to see the hi-five twice (?or more?) but then only getting a single puzzle piece is soul crushing.

Yes matching colours connected in at least 2x2.

doesn't really matter.
fights give your weapons exp. and you money.
big rooms give you many weapons and items, which you can convert to exp. and money at the orb by combining and/or selling stuff.

It's quite a clever system.
no matter if you only pass your best buddy all the time or collect many passes over the day, you will progress.

many passes just work faster.

Iwata's power is not dropping bombs. Missed opportunity there, Nintendo.
pleaseunderstand

Quick question, I got a Streetpass while actually in the Plaza playing games.

They're at the door waiting now, can I exit and leave them there? Then next time I go in they'll just come in like normal? Or do I lose them if I exit without letting them in?

Only reason I ask, once I get home from work I'll have 2 more hits and I'd prefer to play the games with 3 hits together rather than do them separate.

But I also don't want to lose this person as they might have something cool! :P

They'll stay in the queue until you visit the gate. If you quit out of Mii Plaza or run out of battery power or something while still running a queue it should just pick up at the point you left off with your current queue rather than opening your new one.

Thanks, yeah I just closed the lid and in sleep mode it picked up the other 2 when I got home and bought all 3 in at once.

Finished StreetPass Squad with that team too! :D

Now to work on 'perfecting' the levels.

6 more passes today. This is the golden age. Thanks AC.

Edit: Finally some countries other than England! Good to see some Americans and a German.

oh my, the second to last level of squat was quite intense!... even with seven passes at hand.

a shame that most bosses are piss easy.

Ever since I transferred my stuff to my new 3DS, I decided to start over with the old one. I will still cherish all of my memories within the past two years of owning a 3DS with the 9999 Overall Tags and 3000+ Mii's on my Red XL, but my Cosmic Black Launch 3DS will have some StreetPass love as well.

Currently at 158 Tags with 101 Miis on my Cosmo Black 3DS. Will try to get this one to 9999/3000+ as well,

9999 tags? Geez, I've only got 400 tags in my two years, and half of them are from my second 3DS.

I wish Mario Kart's streetpass functions were at least fun or interesting. I get so many of those tags.

Anyway, the thrill of getting new passes is slightly diminished after a month of pretty reliable action. Are we sure Nintendo didn't stealthily roll-out the 'Get Streetpass Miis from wireless hotspots' scheme already?

huh... I updated my castle in Battle once more and got the skill to
spy on contenders
.

but i can't find anything. what am I doing wrong here?

Its when you're picking which faction (rock, paper or scissors) of your army you want to send in to battle I think it was, down the bottom you can click 'spy on enemy' or something for 2 play coins.

I have never used it so I have no idea what it does, I assume it tells you what one they are going to use or something.

Well, don't know if people know this already, but today I passed someone in Belgium and he had the puzzel of Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger. Wasn't this one America exclusive puzzle till now?

Also that person had AC, so I have to see his house. :D

From what I remembered, it just got released to Europe last update which is like couple of weeks ago.

I just got more than 700 tags at Anime Expo (Los Angeles)... so annoyed that NoA didn't make the new StreetPass content available in the US before the con. I've long since completed all the puzzles and gotten all the hats, so now I'm just collecting tags. It's still fun, but what the fuck is the point of denying ONLY North America the new StreetPass games? Ugh.

Seriously. Now all I'm doing is trying to beat Find Mii ten times.

Sorry for off-topic, but I'm still looking for answer to this if you have your 3DS handy... this'll be a lot harder to track once the update hits =/

If you guys can help... I'm missing only two hats now and am having trouble figuring out which. Which hats are directly below the Ramen Hat and the Magic Hat on the list?

Someone linked a streetpass guide which had an amazing map but the names of hats in the guide don't always match what an NA 3DS calls them and I couldn't figure out which hat I was missing looking through it a couple times.

Yeah, I've even done that... literally the only things I have left to do are the total number of tags-based achievements... still need 8000, 9000, and 9999.

Sorry, I don't follow. What are you looking for the answer to?

Was in my quoted text since I had asked weeks ago - but go into Mii Settings, Change Hat, and see which hats are directly below the Ramen Hat and the Magic Hat on the list?

Ah, I see. My bad, I misunderstood. The two hats you're looking for the Soccer Ball Hat (below the Ramen Hat) and the Hatchet Hat (below the Magic Hat). I think the Hatchet Hat was the very last one that I got... that or the Light-Blue Yoshi Hat.

My guess is that they're delaying the release of the new games until the "street pass hot spot" thing is up and running.

You know, the thing that will "fix" street passing for the US: Street Pass centers, where your street pass information will be stored and can be retrieve by multiple people while you're not at that location anymore.

Anyone a quick rundown to what exactly StreetPass is/does?

When you're within range of another 3DS, you exchange Streetpass data, which is basically your Mii. It has some basic info like what state you live in and you're most recently played game. There are Nintendo themed puzzles you can complete by earning pieces through Streetpass exchanges, and there's a mini-game called Find Mii which is a really basic RPG-style game. You can also exchange ghost data from Mario Kart 7, for example, or similar features in other games, depending on if they've built with Streetpass in mind. It's basically just a fun little quirk that makes bringing your 3DS on the road worthwhile. I flew out of Boston the same day PAX East ended and got tons of Streetpass 'hits.'

EDIT: Nintendo explains it well: http://www.nintendo.com/3ds/built-in-software/#/3

Any tips on StreetPass Squad 4-3's 3rd diamond? It's the only one I'm missing.

Also, my progress in StreetPass Battle is incredibly slow (13/20). And I'm already out of playcoins... :( For the most part, I wait until my army is at a slightly higher number than the enemy before engaging them which takes a lot of time. Is it even possible to win with less troops?

Me and my Gf got about 12 streetpass hits each, just wandering around Bromley this afternoon. Was pretty cool.

We did end up with a few different streetpasses each though. Our 3DS's were next tpo eachother in the same bag, so I guess it's down to the 3DS's only being able to do one streetpass exchange at a time and us being out of range once the first exchange happened.

Is this an accurate assumption? We're kinda new to this Streetpass business (my GF was loving it though and gonna use it as an excuse to go for more walks, which is awesome!).

Yeah, I've been thinking the same thing, but that certainly doesn't make it any less frustrating!

The problem is that not every takes their 3ds with them (Because of the stigma of mobile gaming past angry birds) and people in america are too spread out compared to japan that the only time we get decent tags is at conventions (which sort of defeats the entire purpose) and after a certain age well, you're weird if you're 30-40+ depending on what convention you're going to.

This. When I first got my 3DS I'd StreetPass with one or two guys around the office. Then Fire Emblem came out and there was one more guy. Now ACNL is out and I can get 10+ easily a day. Helps that my office is right next to the main lounge where everyone meets up to play AC at lunch. =P

I seem to be passing quite a few people who recently got the system (judging by how few puzzle panels they have).

So some odd things I found out. I think play coins earned on a day and steps walked are logged separately. While "cheating" the step count I got to 800 then dropped to 0 (is this a glitch or it thought I was cheating). Went for a walk and it seemed like the first 200 steps got the last 2 coins.

3DS sound is odd. Closing the lid turns off the screen and does not count toward the activity log. I think it also won't flash the green light to tell you about a StreetPass notification either. At least I certainly didn't notice the two I got on a train journey until I got 2 more later that day.

It's still fun, but what the fuck is the point of denying ONLY North America the new StreetPass games? Ugh.
My guess is the NOA marketing saw the terrible names like StreetPass Garden (its so bland) and need some time to fix that (its not easy coming up with a good product name). Like how Streetpass Quest is called Find Mii...

Plant Mii, Shoot Mii, Battle Mii and Haunt Mii, perhaps? ;)

It's easily possible, and it becomes even more so when you unlock the ability to get Wentworth to organise your troops, and to spy on which troops your opponents will use first.

I beat an army more than twice the size of mine. It's all about utilising the features available to you.
