..where were you people when GAF convinced me to buy this before it got stupid expensive and hard to find
"oh irish you love vesperia, youll enjoy this" ....great

M one of the few at like the game. I think it's beautiful and dynamic. I really enoy the Artes combat and it has some great Vesperia vibes. Besides, it's a real console Tales on a 3D handheld. The main character is a bit of an asshat, but gets better ^_^

OMG posted yet? So damn adorable. Fuck region-lock…

Interior should have been the black unit.

haha, 8th & krome is far as fuck though! and hwy, where you at again?

for real though, weve got a zelda concert hitting downtown MIA in december, gonna try another meet & after-party then with the locals. i'm convinced there's a bunch of us in hiding cause of the FL-hate in Off Topic, heh

You should do it. I'm pretty sure I'm picking up at least one ticket for the Zelda concert since I missed out on the Orlando game concert.

As for the XL pickup, the plan for me seems to be to wake up and walk across the street to the GameStop to pick up a blue one.

I live in Miramar anyway, and I'm too lazy to wake up at 8 AM on a Sunday. 11 AM opening for the local GameStop is early enough for me.

No luck. The local Wal-Mart won't be getting theirs until the 24th. Hilariously enough, I wasn't the only one who tried.

Okay, I'm bringing my old 3DS to GameStop tomorrow for the trade. they said I can still do the system transfer as long as I do it myself. Question is, how long does that take?

I didn't preorder at Gamestop, what are my chances of getting one?

Seems Nintendo has a pretty solid inventory for the launch. Amazon decided to cut what my 3DS is worth in half so I ran out to gamestop and was able to order just fine for pickup in the morning.

At wal mart and the lady is 50 years old and has no idea what I am talking about. She just says no. Not cool. Should I ask someone else?

Well I went to wal mart and in the electronics department was an elderly lady (so I already knew my chances were low) first i checked the front cases and all they had were pink 3DS's, so I asked the elderly lady about the 3DS XL, she looked extremely confused and lost "A DXL? Is that a game or somethin?" I polity responded "no it's a system, a 3DS XL" and she response with "never heard of it, I'll ask the back" she paged the dude in the back and asked if they had a "DXL 3 system" yeah...

Morning GameStop trip it is then...

Hey, I should've logged on here sooner to let you Miami people know, but I was too busy on my XL already (hopefully that excuses me). I picked mine up at midnight on the Walmart near Sunset Drive (72nd st) and 157th ave. I'm cancelling my GameStop preorder tomorrow morning. I only pre-ordered just in case, but definitely prefer Walmart. Walmart is extremely easy when it comes to returns on items. I returned dead fish to Walmart once WITHOUT a receipt. Yeah... So, if you're still awake and itching for the 3DS XL, go to that Walmart!

My impressions on the 3DS XL:

It's huuuuge! I love the weight of the console, the way it feels, especially when playing Mario Kart; my hands have so much more room now. The circle pad feels stiffer (good thing), and the D-pad and buttons more clicky/responsive (also good). Pushmo and Zelda look amazing, especially Zelda. The game world looks huuuge, running around on Hyrule Field is something else!

Only negatives I can find are that yes the larger pixels are more noticeable (no brainer, but barely a big deal, pixels are still small, and games look amazing), and the power button. I wish the power button would stick out more. Oh, and the Start, Home, and Select buttons will take some getting used to, but they're definitely better than those membrane thingies from the original.

Overall, I'm super happy with my purchase. It just feels so good in my hands and my eyes feel good/happy looking at it, haha. I have sweaty hands every once in a while (hyperhidrosis) and the regular 3DS would look disgusting at times, when I sweat on my XL when I was nervous/jittery to open it up the sweat was very easy to wipe off. The matte finish is perfect and sleek. It really looks like it belongs in the DS family, because the regular 3DS's layered cake design and angular design made it the oddball.

I'm just in love with it. It's everything the 3DS should have been when it came out. When I did my system transfer the comparison in size and screen was crazy, I can never go back to that thing!

Same here. The second person at least went to check. She said a vendor brings them. Ah well.

I need to wait for silver. I shouldn't go buy one before work. That would just be a waste of money. But then again aren't all video game consoles a waste of money for a student?

* pulls out wallet and finds bus times*

Damn you NoA, you win this time! *waves fist angrily* :(

Since the top and bottom plates pop off couldn't you just change those to silver once third party ones show up?

So called another Wal-Mart they have no one working in electronics lol. So I was told they lay them out at 500am. Well, going to Target tomorrow I get 5% off anyways.

Technically only the bottom plate has been comfirmed removable (via removal of the screws on the back). Everyone saying the top ones come off are completely speculating AFAIK. There's no screws on the top so I imagine the top plate is glued on or something. I'll probably just buy the Silver model when it comes out 6 months from now and trade in my blue XL.

Maybe it's just easy to pop off, but not something you're SUPPOSED to do. Could probably find a disassembled unit somewhere.

Oh, I thought people were saying the top one could be popped off, and that it was held in place with tabs or something along those lines.. I haven't done any research into it past this thread so I could be completely wrong. Hopefully it can be changed.

Anyone know if Walmart's "Price match guarantee" will work for the Fry's Electronic deal? Even if I live 180 miles from the nearest Fry's?

Thats tough to say. They say local competitors. You could argue that since that is the nearest frys they are the local competitor but may need to go to store management for such an argument if clerk doesn't accept ad

I don't understand why the speakers have to be shit. Was it really to save battery life?
They didn't want to make the system wider than the XL already is. The bigger screens made it so the current 3DS speakers wouldn't fit so they used smaller ones and customized it so it would "sound like" the existing 3DS. They talked about it in the 3DS XL Iwata Asks. Too bad the speakers are shit though...

Do any of you actually use headphones with portables? I can't imagine doing that... It's like "suiting up" to play some game.
