Luke Stephens: "I had a question specifically about the scope and scale of the game. I mean, obviously from the trailers and the gameplay previews and things, it looks like a massive world, a mass just in terms of scope, how many systems there are, but could you speak a little bit to how big this game is?"
Will Powers: "Yeah, I mean, Luke, you played I think it was a summer GameFest demo, which was a portion of a chapter of the game. So, that you got to play in a giant battlefield, and even at that point, we were talking about this is a tiny corner of the map. In demos where you jump off the aerial abyss and see the the whole content of Pywell, even then you're only seeing a corner of the map.
So, we've been seeing some news out there with some specific numbers floating around about how big the map is. I don't think numbers really do it justice because how big is that in terms of scope and scale.
But what we can say is
the world's at least twice as big as the open world, the playable area of Skyrim. It's larger than the map of Red Dead Redemption 2. So the area that you're playing in the continent of Pywel is absolutely massive.
But size doesn't really matter if there's nothing to do...So open world games are about doing things, having activities, having distractions.
So we wanted to create a world that's not only massive, but is also incredibly interactive."
