in primer how come they couldn't write
20?
OP, why do you think this would lead to any other answers? (serious question)
4×4+4×4+4-4×4?
Easy, just factor out the 4.
4(1x1+1x1+1-1x1) = 4(2) = 8
4×4+4×4+4-4×4?
Easy, just factor out the 4.
4(1x1+1x1+1-1x1) = 4(2) = 8
Factoring out the 4 would give 4(4+4+1-4)= 4*5 = 20
Don't tell me I got a degree in troll math for nothingYou cant. Its a sum. The answer is 20. Just follow the order of operations. * / is more important to + -. So you have to multiply first and then just add everything up ._.
Simplification doesn't need an equal sign.Unanswered. No equal sign.

So far all replies have been wrong. If you recheck to OP you'll notice that it doesn't include an equal sign, just '4×4+4×4+4-4×4 ?'. Not entirely sure of what he's really asking about, so my answer will just be:
4×4+4×4+4-4×4 ?
While we're here... why does it work this way and not the way the person you quoted put it? Why does that way work with exponents?
