Krypto trying to play when his owner is injured is so real :messenger_grinning_smiling:
I don’t know, dogs can be annoying when they want to play in inappropriate situations, but when you’re even slightly hurt they’re the first to check on you. Or mine were like that anyway.
The gag was still funny and I thought the trailer was promising, but my only nitpick is specifically that Kryptôs behavior felt off.

Superman has 14 fractured bones, damage to bladder, kidney, large intestines, lungs.

Nothing gets me more hyped for a Superman movie than seeing Superman just absolutely rekt beyond belief.

I have a bad feeling about this movie.
Superman gets the shit beaten out of him often. It would make for a pretty boring comic run if he never had to put any actual effort in. Don’t get me wrong, he is absurdly powerful, but some of his enemies are absurdly powerful as well.

It seems clear to me that Krypto is still supposed to be fairly young and puppy-like in this movie. When I injured my arm like a decade ago, there was a day or two before I could see a doctor. I was visibly and audibly in pain every time I lied down to rest. Do you think my puppy gave a shit? Absolutely not. It was still playtime all the time for him!

He's 11 now and still very playful but yeah, at this age he'd probably show concern for a few moments... before reverting to puppy mode and grabbing a nearby toy. :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Visually looks good, but I'm disappointed with the Marvel-quip stuff and the sassy automatons. Just would love one movie to take itself seriously for once again.
Somewhere between the extreme self-seriousness of Zack Snyder's DCEU and the absolute factory assembled soulless running joke that is Marvel MCU, there must be some kind of balance

It's strange how Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy is held up as one of the greatest examples of how to adapt comic books to movies but literally nobody just follows his formula

not tag worthy
The colour grade makes it look like a TV show. I think the film will be upbeat. Gunn is a great director. So I’m excited to see this. It is definitely going for the reeves era feel with modern cgi

Robots lended more humor (or attempts at it) than I expected which felt out of place to me…I had the wrong impression of what the movie was aiming for (family friendly…ish?!?)

Also Superman seems, emotionally, like a rock. No charisma, no smile, nothing. I get this was more of a scene rather than representing the entire movie, but I hope this actor can bring some charm and warmth to the character.

Because his formula doesn't really hold up. Ledger's performance went a long way in glossing over the issues with Nolan's trilogy.

The original Superman movie's (1978) whole opening on Krypton was the best thing ever filmed based on this character. Everything from the acting, story, aesthetics, effects, even the accents. I loved it so much.

I’m not sure why Gaf in general has been largely negative towards this, when everywhere else has had very positive reactions. Do we just have a lot of Snyderverse fans on here? The common sentiment is that it looks goofy, which is interesting because this film is definitely going to be based on Silver Age Superman, when Supes was at the height of his popularity. Goofiness was also very much a part of the Christopher Reeve films.

Assuming the film is reviewed well, I think people here are seriously underestimating how appealing this film is to general audiences.

I don't think the first Reeve film really had any goofiness in it. Coincidently (or maybe not) it was also the best one.

I do have a soft spot for Superman 2 though, I love the villains in that movie.

The first movie was very goofy from the moment Clark arrived at Mertopolis.

It definitely had a lot of goofiness in it. The overall tone was incredibly lighthearted and at times silly. Not to mention the flying around the world to turn back time thing was absurd, even for 1978. But people looked past it all because it was fun.

I think our definitions of what constitutes as goofy are different. When I think of goofy I think of that giant cartoonish Godzilla in the trailer. I think Clark was meant to be an opposite of Superman, hence his clumsy demeanor. The overall movie to me as a whole wasn't goofy.

When I mean goofy I mean slapstick or comedic or cartoonish.

The spinning the Earth scene was a very serious scene, Lois had just died and there was nothing goofy about it.

I think the tone is very not serious. Also everything Lex Luthor and his friends do is goofy. I'm a big fan of the movie and Superman 2.

Tag, you're it.
Well, it's less ugly than the first trailer but at the same time it's not complicated. On the other hand, Krypto is once again a no. And why this desire to show Superman in such a ridiculously weak position? I don't understand the project.
And I can't stand Marvel humor anymore:
"we robots don't have consciences"
2 seconds later
"OMG HE LOOKED AT ME"

On the other hand, I'm really curious to see how people will react when they find out that Jor-El sent Clark on Earth to conquer it. For sure those who criticize the liberties taken by Snyder are clearly not going to like this kind of change.

Look I like the Donner films, but flying around the planet so fast that it reverses time is absolutely goofy. Intentional or not.

If that's 100% true then I'm fine with it. Honestly makes Clark even more of a hero if that's the case.

I thought the dog bouncing on him was hilarious lol. Still not sure on the tone - seeing him like hurting when he was just healing was a bit weird. Is that a comic lore thing? I still prefer just going above the clouds like in Returns was it?

Taken out of context, need to see what put him in this state etc.

The dog jumping on Superman laying there spitting up blood was an odd bit of comedy. Tone just seems all over for me. Who knows, maybe they can pull this off.

When you think Gunn can't get any worse with the nepotism, he adds his own damn dog. Still wish he was a lab.
Those robots are lame as hell too.

On a positive note, the suit doesn't look as bad in this as it did in that released image. Appears to be fitting better with some movie magic.

I've got very bad news for you with James Gunn at the helm. This will have endless quipiness.

Absolutely Cozy
I don't know why, but the movie looks cheap. Man of Steel feels like a more premium movie than this. I guess Gunn is going for a more childish tone. It looks fun and entertaining though so unless it gets abysmal scores I'll likely go watch it.

You sound like an edgy teenager, lol. This is what my 17yo would say while trying to consider himself mature and too grown up 😂
I can understand not liking the dog. Someone who doesn't read the comics might not even know about Krypto. I'm sure many would react the same way if a new Batman movie would bring back campy elements

James Gunn can't be that dumb to not realizes it's not the 1980's you cant make some E. T. /Goonies feel good movie. We're living in dystopian times. That shits not going to fly.

I was put off by some of the Justice League members being shoehorned into the movie, but those are honestly the most interesting parts of the movie shown so far.

Its the Lois Lane and Pa Kent stuff that looks ZZZzzz.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
Male robot: "we don't have emotion or consciousness."

Female robot: "oh look, he looked at me I'm blushing!"

I don't understand if this is supposed to be part of a joke or if this is just absolute stupidity. Everything about this does not look good but I guess the dog is cute.
