I can imagine a massive reduction in bandwith by using this instead of traditional gifs might give GAF servers a better chance. I guess?

You can toggle looping in the right click menu (on 4chan at least).

At the same time .webm has much smaller file sizes for the same content, which is a godsend for mobile devices.

If this is implemented, then it'll help during E3. You won't have to have crazy huge gifs, but instead these webms.

EDIT: Nvm I see that it works on what I guess is the comments section of 4chan. click the webM and it starts to play. AWESOME.

.gifs don't play automatically on 4chan either, you have to click on them and then they expand and start playing. So presumably .webm's also don't play automatically because that was a choice they made, not because they can't play automatically.
