Yes, the 2300 has memory per input and audio delay settings stick.
I better grab it soon then, looks like its being discontinued?

I'm sure the 2017 model (X2400H) is similar.
Anyone here using the Samsung k8500?
Just wondering, how do you tell the thing to not upscale or mess with the picture in any way and just let the tv handle it?
The problem is I can't for the life of me find an option anywhere to tell the blu ray player "just send a signal to the receiver, don't upscale or mess with the picture."
Should be "Source Direct" or "Native" options in your BD player with the resolution output. On my KS8000 the TV also does a much better job upscaling than even my Oppo UHD player, so I have it set for Source Direct for disc playback. You should have that option on your BD/DVD player and your cable/sat DVR too, it might just be called something different depending on the manufacturer.
Nope, there's no "direct" source for video/picture, just resolutions and "auto."
I was bored and read the Blu-ray.com review recently, and they recommended just watching the regular Blu-ray instead of the 4K one. I think that's the first time I've ever seen that happen.
I don't trust the Blu-ray.com 4K reviews at all. They've never revealed what gear they're reviewing it on and they're almost always the outlier on negative 4K reviews.

Sounds like both are great.
Usually auto means it outputs in the resolution of the video being played. So it should output 1080p for a blu ray, and 2160p for a UHD disc. At least that is how I always read it.
So auto might be "highest resolution the TV will take" or something then?I found it, apparently there is no direct and you have to instead select the resolution specifically for it not to upscale or downscale, so when you watch 4k you have to set it to 2160p and for 1080p blu rays you have to select 1080p.
On auto it'll output to the highest res (so 1080p is upscaled).
Damn, that's a good deal. I just watched Rise last night on 4K. It's okay looking. Nothing mind blowing. But, still a step up from normal Blu-ray, and a damn good movie.
I also didn't realize Reeves didn't direct this one until the credits roled. Crazy.
Is there a service out there that offers streaming 4k rentals?
A much cheaper 4K UHD of Your Name will be available later this month on the 27th in Hong Kong
4K is region free, and Western Asia (Hong Kong) is Region A for Blu-ray so both discs in that set will play fine on a US player.I would love to get one of these but will it play on all Blu-ray players? Never bought a Blu-ray from another country before.
I just saw a UHD disc break the $5 barrier for the first time.
Salt was $4.99 at Fry's.
Ouch
Anyone here have a Sony 900e?
Been adjusting my settings while watching Okja/Peewee/Glow on netflix and found that the 'live color' setting pretty much needs to be on medium or high(I think I'll keep it at medium). On low or none the daytime scenes look like evening scenes. Well lit rooms look like closets etc. HDR brightness settings are already at max.
Weird for me to do since years of avsforum has thought me to turn off all extra processing options.

That pretty much on all WB BD's, right?I just watched 4K Blade Runner, and holy hell the warning/license legalese screens after the movie are pretty legendary. It just doesn't end.
Hey, a question I've never asked (I've never actually seen a UHD disc in action) -
Do these discs maintain the longstanding tradition introduced by the DVD era of throwing an ungodly amount of pre-menu distractions (some skippable, some only fast-forwardable, some neither) before you can get to the part where you hit "play?"
I'd love a format that returns to the days of "FBI Warning" "Logo" "Watch the FUCKING MOVIE"
is this that format?

Will they ever make 4K+3D discs?
Some recent 3D Blu Rays still look amazing, like Star Wars TFA. I would love to have the best of both worlds.

Is Moana available in 4K anywhere on-demand through any of the Samsung apps?

Then the Best Buy Steelbooks are what you're looking for. The only ones I found having both.
With the upcoming HDMI 2.1 version, it should have the bandwidth theoretically capable for such a thing. It's already been slated to do 8k at 120fps, so could be possible if the manufacturers wished to do so.Is 4K+3D technically impossible? I'm wondering if it's like 3D videogames where the resolution is lower than 1080p in order to apply the 3D effect.
It seems my issue was that the 'custom' picture mode was just the wrong mode to use as a base. Just going to 'Cinema Home' made a dramatic difference in brightness with HDR content and I only needed to adjust a few settings.I have an 43X800D
live color pushes out SDR color boundaries into a WCG colorspace, essentially over saturating it.
In my testing, an equivalent result was achieved by bumping the color +3.
The current UHD spec does not allow for 3D at all unfortunatelyBoth as in a movie that's in 4K and has 3D, or just separate discs for both?

Oh nice! What is DMA though? So apparently GotG 2 will now port to VUDU in 4K, as long as you redeem in on DMA.
It would originally just redeem the HDX version.

Ah ok, cool. I seem to remember hearing some downsides about Disney's service? But if you can just redeem the 4K through Disney and then access it through Vudu then that sounds great.Disney Movies Anywhere. Its disneys backend that makes it so your Disney purchases get shared across iTunes, google play, Amazon, VUDU, their own app, and some others Im sure Im forgetting
