I thought it was funny at first, but this is actually pretty sad now that I know Floyd really can't read. Illiteracy among adults is something I find particularly heartbreaking. 50's a dickhead for doing this.

14% of people in the United States over the age of 16 reading at a below basic level. That's more than the amount of people whose literacy level can be described as proficient.

I dislike the idea of bullying people into giving money to charity, but I think a cool way 50 could make amends is by donating the money to a place like this regardless of whether or not Mayweather takes him up on the challenge.
I am the thirteen percent.

Though, technically, I would probably wind up in the 5-10% range.

Wow, I had no idea Floyd didn't graduate hs, I thought this was all shits and giggles that he had to read a page from a book...

This is so wrong. Making fun of someone who can't read all that well :-/ That dude Charlamagne is a dick and a half.

:/ I did not like that. Sad as hell.

I do not understand any of these posts.

This isn't a malicious video of some young, innocent child that does not have access to a proper education.

Mayweather is wealthy as hell, and if he had ANY interest in learning to read, he could probably hire Levar Burton to move into his house and re-enact every single damn episode of Reading Rainbow for him every day until he learned.

He does not want to learn. He does not care enough to learn.

He deserves zero pity. None. Nil.

People get super salty over it, I'd wager that he really doesn't give a shit either way. Making fun of someone who can't read all that well is in bad taste, but then again calling out another rapper's wife and saying you fucked around with her along with beating up your own wife/girlfriend makes it hard to be sympathetic. Floyd's a big kid, he's dished out as much shit as he gets back. Dude's hardly going to be crying himself to sleep tonight. If you want to call it some problem that will extend beyond Floyd, then sure I guess go off on that issue, but I wouldn't get hung up on it. It's two multi millionaires throwing mud at eachother as they have and will continue to do.

Funny at first but ultimately it's a dick move.

I work with functionally illiterate adults to help them improve their reading, and one of the biggest issues facing them is the societal stigma of admitting that they have trouble reading. Once they're in class and they know it's safe to make mistakes without fear of ridicule, you'd be amazed at how quickly they improve.

This will only further shame people who can't read proficiently and make the problem harder to solve.

Reading is something you learn when you're growing up, and it's a lot harder to learn when you're an adult (just like learning a foreign language is easier if you start at an early age).

I know nothing about Floyd's upbringing, but most people who can't read proficiently as adults either a) have a learning disability, b) have a terrible school/home life or c) both.

I don't have a ton of sympathy for Floyd because he's a woman-beating piece of shit, but stuff like what 50 said will only serve to exacerbate this really sad societal problem.

Meh. Still hard to hear. I don't subscribe to the notion that I can't show sympathy toward rich people because they have the money to fix their problems.

.

I think that's what makes it really sad, that he has money to buy the luxuries of life, but not being able to read proficiently because of a bad upbringing or what have you.

You can't say for certain that he doesn't care to learn. Maybe he doesn't show that he cares but it certainly must bother him. You can't always trust the yes men that hang off his jock every day.

It's real. Mayweather deleted the tweet, though.

No one knows because there is no screen shot of the tweet. Because it was posted yesterday and they when people looked at floyds page they couldn't find the original and traced to a follower as the origin of the tweet.

So again, why doesn't he do anything about it? Is he a child? Is he poor? Is he incapable of getting a tutor? Going to a library? What indication has he given that he actually cares, since if he did it's WELL in his ability to learn?

Omg. Going to make me spit out my water.

It does make me sad to hear about 50's family relationship. Hope dude can try to be a better father if that stuff is true.

He doesn't give any indication he cares, but Floyd the person and Floyd the boxer are 2 different persona's. We mostly see Floyd the boxer.

You can't say for certain that he doesn't care. You don't know what his personal life is like.

Watch the 24/7 with Mayweather and see what his regiments is like and how his relationship is like with his dad, Floyd Sr.

IMO, Floyd Sr. is what Joe Jackson was to Michael Jackson.

I HATE Floyd because of his persona but I respect the hell out of him as a boxer.

People making fun of Floyd's residing skills shows how pathetic a society we are

While it's true that a grown man not being able to read isn't funny...in the context of this feud, and 50's delivery of everything, this shit is some of the funniest shit I've seen in a long time. I'm STILL laughing at the initial video.

oh god...I just saw what you did there. derp

50 is so fucking funny and he's the same in real life too. I've encountered him a few times to know this. My aunt interior decorated his house so he held a party for her and the family so I was at his house hanging out, and the guy jokes constantly. The second time I went to go see the movie Escape Plan at the movies and he showed up with his entire family and crew, probably 20+ people. He was clapping during every scene he was in lol

"Floyd's Daughter: hey daddy can I watch tv?

Floyd Mayweather: No it's late and you need to go to bed.

Floyd's Daughter: well can you read me a bedtime story before I sleep?

Floyd Mayweather: ...ok you can watch T.V."

I was told in first grade that I read a "a college level." I'm not really sure what it means any more.
