Funnily enough, 5G isn't even about the frequencies it's about A.I. and deploying clusters of cells and taking the intelligence of the radio base further back into the core. It's a package of new standards, the frequency could easily be the same as in 4G and most of the benefits would remain.
Then new back haul to centralize the processing of cells and the A.I. are the most important features.
The frequency only affects the amount of data available for carriers, but since you can have clusters of cells working together, it can still be a big change even without that much of a rise in frequency.
I don't know how many real studies are there or what they say about the spectrum being used in 5G, but we always work around what is already defined as "safe", if frecuency is an issue it's really not that big of a deal to dial it back AFAIK.

Well, it kinda holds up pretty well in the age of information. How many know-it-all internet users we have nowadays?
If you are so worried about EM frequencies then know this, visible light is in several 100 THz range. Better not go outside then. I guess you don't even understand what radiation is and that ionising radiation is the one that has high enough energy to detach electrons from atoms in molecules which in turn leads to DNS damage - cancer. Conspiracy theorists really throw this word "radiation" around like they know what they are talking about. You get significantly stronger radiation from nature than from 5g.
As far as we know microwaves can only really heat up things due to how they interact with dipole of water molecules (making them turn up and down in synchronized fashion with microwave frequency) and because they can penetrate deeper. But you need significant energy density to have any noticable heating effect. Microwave ovens concentrate a lot of power in a very confined space to achieve this.
5g has significantly lower power density even when you are few centimeters away from a transmitter, not to mention that they are outside in the Open, significantly decreasing this density with more distance.
There's a common theme between conspiracy theorists - poor understanding of physics.

Because i only read people talking about the frequencies when in reality that it's not even the best part of the technology and could easily be readjusted if found dangerous.
Edit: also, to anyone worried, if you don't live next to a cell tower, your biggest worry should be where you keep your router and your cellphone instead of the frecuency of the towers. Don't hold your phone next to your head after dialing if you fear radio signals and turn off the wifi of your router.

The biggest advances in 5G are the new backhaul options, you can connect directly into OLT's using PON as backhaul, and using clusters of cells with some coordination using machine learning, this was somewhat tried in 4G but it's natively supported in 5G phase 2 or 3.I do understand from a security and technology perspective 5g seems pointless. 5G from what I found is running up to 90GHz.
So the real jump in 5G it's making the cells easier to deploy and moving the intelligence of it further back into the core of the network. There are some other cool features, like sites automatically changing radiation power to diminish intra cell interference or helping each other to gain better cover of an area or even doing self maitinance of known failures that can be fixed by a reset for example.
In practice, the bulk of the 3ggp standard it's about having more cells, with better backhaul and easier deploiment, effectively giving better coverage in urban areas even if using 4G frecuencies for example.
So yea, it is somehow like having more wifi spots with fiber speeds basically, lol.
