Yeah, that's how I saw it too.
But I also consider the movie a straight-up farce, and there are plenty of people who think it's serio-comic. I got the sense when I watched it that it was closer to a Coen-esque mean-spirited comedy than anything else.
I mean, everyone in that movie is kind of a giant idiot. That's part of the comedy, I think.

No movie was longer than the Hobbit. I'm impressed they didn't edit that down to a manageable 4-5 hour cut instead of forever that my theater clearly got

Decent film but nothing special. Same as DOR's last two films before that.
I honestly thought it was one of her worst performances. Her line readings whenever she wasn't copping the accent were flat as fuck.

I maintain that a lot of people were confused by the ad campaign, which made it look like a Goodfellas ripoff. So when they got a total farce about blowhard dipshits in the 70s blundering all over each other with their "brilliant" plans, there was some confusion
It's a really, really good comedy. I don't know that it's a GREAT film, though. But it's definitely not going to win Best Picture anyway, so eh.
They have actually been barely over 3 hours long in recent years, but I suspect this will be a comparatively longer ceremony because all four Best Song nominees will be performed.

He's trying to branch out, and certainly good for him. The problem I have with him is that I never don't see an actor on screen. I see a guy who is trying his heart out, but you can tell he's trying. He doesn't vanish into the role and let the character take center stage like truly great actors.

I think she did well considering the material, and the role of her character in the film. Obviously yeah, The Master, The Fighter, Junebug, she can certainly turn in a much stronger performance, but all things considered, I think she's the strongest performance in the film.
The actual ceremony starts at 5:30.

I don't know, but I just checked like 4 different sources including Oscar.com and they say the awards start at 7p eastern, 4p pacific.
So yeah, 10 minutes.

Yep, the real show starts hour and a half from now. There's red carpet bullshit on now but the "official" red carpet bullshit starts at 4 so technically the Oscar coverage begins then. It's dumb.

Thank god. I was panicking because I have some things to do before the show starts and I thought I was out of time. lol
It's an entertaining movie, well made with solid performances but I don't think it's good enough to win an Oscar for anything.
