A Closer Look at How Xbox Series X|S Integrates Full AMD RDNA 2 Architecture

I always try to stay out of the petty arguments but admittedly some times get pulled in. I must admit that I feel satisfaction in hearing this, not because I don't want ps5 users to have a great experience (I'm going to get one), but because some people on here were so bullish with their claims and dismissive of MS's box. I do imagine though there are some customizations in the PS5, that are going to be unique to it, that devs will be able to take advantage of.

As annoying as the console warring is. Its always great to see crow being served tho.

So I guess people were banned for saying its not full RDNA2 should be unbanned.

In all seriousness though, as someone that has gone out of their way to avoid the next gen thread, what's the significance of this news?
Unfortunately, this news only adds fuel to the console war fire. It's marketing at it's best. Microsoft fans will mark it as a win, Sony fans will defend. Most warriors won't technically understand the big picture, but it's an arrow in the quiver. Let's see how the thread plays out.

He's been counting down like some secret sauce was going to be unveiled today. "10 days" "only a little longer now" etc etc.

Surprisingly the show came and went and no geordie 🤔🤔🤔.

I remember people talking about Sony unveiling the ps5 at some amd event earlier in the year and nothing. Why would anyone think anything different here?

I was told to wait by @geordiemp for today, he even did a handy daily countdown and boy was it worth it.

This is a hard one to spin.

Please dont question The Engineer who visited tsmc. He has great maths knowledge, what do you all know better? :messenger_weary::messenger_ok:

Ohhhh what a twist! ...For the verbage in this forum at least. I dont think it will make a massive difference in real world applicaton tho between the consoles in results. But if true and there is no other info then yeahhhh I think a few posters in here need to admit they made a mistake!

Oh look another marketing gimmick. The difference in SoC is very minor and features that MS went with Sony cusomised on their own. So while technically true, it's not "better". If anything it may end up being worse depending on Sony implementation but that's all conjecture.

I wonder what will be left for the first few pages before the bomb goes off in here.

Really though, interested in knowing more about the leverage.

So far all the best looking console exclusives have been PS5 games. So far, all the third-party games appear to be identical.
This is obviously not a defense to Xbox, but how could Xbox show best exclusive looking games if it doesn't have any next-gen exclusive to show yet? And about the third party titles, we will have to wait and see some technical analysis to conclude anything.

Didn't Sony already say their solution was custom, based upon RDNA2? That one engineer dude who worked on it said he could think of one less feature it had, along with a few more. This is a non-story.

Microsoft needs to show anything that's even in the same stratosphere as Sony's very first efforts before it keeps trying to brag about power. I mean, come on.

What does this meannnnnn

IT means the PS5 doesnt have RDNA 3 tech and the narrative that went around with that.

On a serious note good news for Xbox gamers and ill be interested to see which RDNA 2 tech PS5 has and how the performance differences come out.

Think I seen its 50% more efficient and performance? Not sure

As was pretty well explained in the RedTechGaming tweet and as I said in the other thread, they can only say this due to DirectX features being the focus of the PC GPUs, and Xbox using directX. Since PS5 doesn't use directx, they can't "technically" say the have the exact same features, but they really do. Sony just has they're own custom version of it.

Cool.... I guess that the SX at least has something over the competition. When you can't have games.... Every little thing matter. :messenger_winking_tongue:

Haven't you guys learned to read between the lines when corp's spin these kind of statements?
Just to throw one scenario out there, AMD mentioned in their showcase they have full support for DX12U in their RDNA2 silicon. This includes velocity architecture (direct storage and sampler feedback). Now, do Sony need those transistors in their SoC? No, hence MS can say that they are the ONLY next-gen console that supports full RDNA2. This is why Sony are using a custom RDNA2 architecture.
Try to be critical when reading these stuff, because it's borderline lies.

Huge advantage in games that use the features, but it's more significant because it confirms a lot of early leaks about the PS5 architecture, many of which were bannable to speculate on.
Except Sony just uses different technologies for the same thing. Why would Sony for instance use DirectX related features for it's games?

Xbox shills will not reply to this post.
