Not even the top selling game on the PS1. You are off your nut if you think that is a remotely defensible perspective. Final Fantasy 7 is probably not in the top ten most popular games of all time.

Yeah fighting with random handicaps like in the Pagoda tower and in the Battle arena were some of my favorite challenges in the game. Love the music in Wutai too.

This is all I needed to know.
The way the original game worked, your only choice is to either romance Tifa or not during the pivotal cliff scene.
Either way I feel that they held back on outward affection here and in AC because they didn't want to anger the Aerith fans.
Now that it's looping around back and giving you the choice again, it should show more outward affection if that's what you choose.

No the original game allows you to lean towards either Aeris or Tifa. Just because you can have sex with a character doesn't mean they're a canon couple. The point is who Cloud ends up loving.
There's plenty of comments by the creators that imply he loves Aeris just as much as Tifa.

I think the official continuity is pretty much set in stone at this juncture, even though it should have been obvious in the original game, compilation beats you over the head until you get sick of it, not to mention the in between novels including 'on the way to a smile'
The interpretations of the game and Crisis core by the creators own words are not something that can be disputed

Canon has to be confirmed. Please show me where the creators state Cloud loves Tifa and not Aeris. In the original game, Aeris's death scene has Cloud admitting his feelings, the ending and the date scene is canon.

No. The creators have mentioned them and represented them in KH and Tactics. Other spinoffs also include them.
It's ignorant to believe SE's intention was Tifa and Cloud. They play up both sides to appease the fans and constantly drop hints for both. They've even said Cloud would probably have ended up with Aeris if she were alive.

The ultimania is stating the sex scene was canon and that's it.
Nomura I believe has stated Cloud would have been in a relationship with Aeris and Nojima said something too.
KH pushes C/A actually and CC is a prequel, it's not pushing anything that's not in the original.
Aeris definitely gives her blessing but that doesn't change the fact she loves him which is stated by her and he definitely loves her back.
Tifa > Aerith, anyway. How can you not like a feisty kung-fu woman who likes you for who you are, going so far as to bail you out of catatonia vs. woman who likes you because you resemble her previous bf (ouch).

Action RPG stuff drastically limits your possible moveset. Not a fan of that AT ALL. I'm cool with super-fast turn-based systems like FFX-2 and FFXII though (albeit with design goals ideally closer to FFX-2's emphasis on making each turn maximally effective rather than FFXII's emphasis on attrition and resource management, I'm a bigger fan of FFXII's encounters that take place on the world map and your ability to control your character's position during battle).
That said, the reason Versus's on the fly character switching failed isn't because character switching is inherently bad, it's because they wanted each character to practically be straight out of a different game (like one of them would be all about shooting weak points whereas the main character would have a gun that just worked via lock-on. ridiculously silly and biting off more than any design team can chew.)

I'm not even a big fan of C/A(I think both couples are kind of lame) but this is bull. Aeris clearly states she likes Cloud because she knows he's different.
Like whoever you want people, just don't push lies to support the other pairing.
