The SSM debacle stands as the biggest news story currently, for me anyway. Never in my wildest imagination did I think that the company that churned some of the highest selling titles for Sony would be gutted and many of the leads, including Stig Asmussen would leave/be fired. Truly a dark night for Sony in February of this year.

Though I just realized just how much more stuff happened; the excavation of the Atari landfill, Valve announcing Steam Machines, Phil Fish cancelling Fez 2, Carmack leaving ID, GFWL ending, Martin O'Donnell leaving Bungie out of nowhere, the Watch_Dogs downgrade-athon, Atlus bankruptcy and subsequent take-over by Sega, etc.
Might update the OP with some of it when I have the time. ;-)
