1) Yes - I tried to get 100%.
2) Everything.. but I found it a tad much. Non important stuff should not be scannable. Every object in every room is scannable but what's the freaking point. USELESS. Samus is a fact otaku
3) NO. Expect text for bosses
4) Since I didn't care to read. No. Too disruptive to flow. Annoying to have to scan everything. It hard to tell what you need to scan to get 100%. What's the criteria? Really damages pacing.
5) Only have criticals scannable and make that story better so you don't have to scan everything. Everything is scannable. Even power pickups. I scanned every item before i picked them up - be they jump boot power up.. etc etc. Scanning the save station??!? MGS is good because you play as Snake and you really identify with the character and environment.... Samus should do auto scans or visor should say data incoming if need be.
