A standalone accessory/camera that tracks your hands/body like PSVR2 would easily outsell PSVR2

Good motion tracking without the PSVR2 headset would be a much easier sale to the mass market.

My opinion is no matter how good hand tracking becomes it will still be better used for social / casual gaming .

Oh sure, everyone loves Kinect.
Kinect was a cash grab not truly for gaming the tracking was 30fps when even the Eyetoy ( PS2) could track at 60fps .

Kinect at 120fps or higher would be a completely different story especially now with better technology & AI.

It already exists. People have been wondering who or if someone will enter the console market with MS's decline but someone already did.
I give you the Nex.

Indeed the Kinect 1 was one of the best selling accessories when it came it.
Im pretty sure it outsold the PSVR2........but look at it now.

P.S
Love my Kinect 2 with the Xbox One.
Twas the best way to Skype(RIP) and was also surprisingly accurate with its voice commands, which I absolutely abused.
I got so used to voice commands, even after I unplugged it id still accidentally say Xbox record that, or walk in my living room and say Xbox On.
No Mic gamechat was also cool, my roommates always thought I was insane and talking to myself till they heard people respond.
Once I stopped using voice commands the amount of Videos and Screenshots I captured dropped dramatically.

P.P.S
Passthrough was actually cool.

Snap was awesome, why did they get rid of it?

I just realized I think I loved the Xbox One?

I don't want to dance in front of a flat screen. I want to be in the worlds.

Wake me up when holodecks are a thing.

What kind of hardware do those Anime Youtubers use? They seem to track all kinds of things.

Depending on their budget, they could be using full suits.
Or could be using like an Awinda with an iPhone (Iphone have ridiculously good facetracking, actively looking for a pocket change iPhone 12, not in the west so not as easy for me, im sure a GAFer will gift me one ;))
Even 1, 2, 3 or 4 Kinects could get you pretty darn accurate mocap, Kinects 1s and 2s are pretty cheap but the software is also hit and miss.

Doing stupid shit at a higher resolution is still doing stupid shit. There's a reason why the "Minority Report UI" thing never made it into reality, even if it'd be possible right now. Because it sucks and no one would want to use it.

There is an eye tracking device for pc games and it's so niche I can't remember the name of it. Primarily used for sims and the like.

Good idea. I see interesting scenarios of implementation such a camera with AI. The simplest one is to add a fake 3d vibe by slightly moving the in-game camera depending on the position of the player's head.

Another option is a dynamic game's difficulty depending on player's emotions.

Even though you don't understand what you're talking about & probably don't realize that's the point of the thread.

They have really good hand tracking for the PSVR2 now but even with perfect hand tracking this tech will be better off for casual gaming & silly stuff where you're moving freely without a care . An expensive headset on your head where you can't get a clear look at your real world surroundings kinda gives you a care.

Eyetoy Play games were silly but I believe the mini game where you had to make the order displayed on the ticket was a moment of great game design & it was done with low end tech over 20 years ago . If you take this same idea using modern technology at higher resolution you can place more items on the screen & make something like this skill based
