Tales is ace.
I'll never understand the stigma against it. Yeah, the stories are pretty meh, but what JRPG story isn't these days. At least they're inoffensive. And while the characters are based on tropes, they have a lot of development compared to many JRPG parties, and actually feel like friends thanks to the skit system. The battle systems are always engaging and make grinding actually not boring.
Yeah, it's anime, but at least the fanservice is generally kept to a minimum and the characters are well designed. The open world did suck ass though, it's something Tales is not.
