maybe i'm reading the tweets wrong but some of the reactions from nfl players are odd. like they think this verdict is some great social injustice or something...

I believe he was making more being a drug kingpin than in the nfl ha
lol wow. Still, whatever he was making before that should've been enough. No reason to risk it. Live good and die happy.
Even when you've made it, sometimes all you really care about is the respect of those with whom you grew up. There are many ways of showing that you're still down/haven't changed just because of money; AH murdering Odin and possibly others is just one way to express it.
If he really was worth/making $40 million, his dumbass friend's opinions of him shouldn't have counted for shit.

What a waste.

Links, for those who enjoy seeing NFL players make asses of themselves on social media?

I missed it but they are ripping the jurors on the radio for the laughter. Wish I saw it.

I had just turned on the TV (because it was all over Facebook) and they were all laughing, smiling, giggling and whatnot. Some of the reporters were even joking around.

I just thought that it was all a little....inappropriate, maybe? It just struck me as very odd.

the consensus seems that Odin might have had info regarding the other two murders AH is being charged for and he was just covering his tracks.

Texts between Hernandez, his fiancée and two co-defendants suggested that Lloyd had taken care of him one night after he had too much to drink, at which point Hernandez regrettably “told him about the spot.” “Im buggin [sic],” he texted the mother of his child, Shayanna Jenkins, the morning after. Prosecutors (and the media alike) took this to mean the flophouse apartment, as if Lloyd’s knowledge of the place was so unacceptable that he had to be taken out. In light of testimony obtained from the Hartford Courant, it could’ve very well been in reference to the place where de Abreu and Furtado were shot in their car after de Abreu failed to apologize for bumping into Hernandez at a club.

3 people are dead, and a 25 year old NFL player is out of the league and will spend the rest of his life broke and in jail, all because one bumped into him and didn't apologize in a club.

Yeah, thought that was weird too.

Saw Brandon Spikes tweet "IM CONFUSED ABOUT THE JUSTICE SYSTEM THESE DAYS!!!"

This is one of the few times the justice system makes complete sense it seems. Murder people and go to jail bruh.

He had a signed a five year contract worth 40 mill in late 2012. Granted NFL contracts aren't guaranteed, but he was good. Would have made mountains of cash in the league. All he had to do was not kill people.

As a father, i weep for his mother (and the parents of the deceased). All you want to do is protect your children. The pain a parent must feel to see your child in a fate like this.

Oh Aaron. You had the world.. but you had to play thug.

Ahh yes, Aaron is the true victim here. Obviously.

.

It's my opinion that we are entering into an increasingly 'gut-reaction' based society. The average understanding of due process, legality, and even morality is widely skewed from person to person. So you'll get absurd reactions like "the justice system" is out of a whack when a killer gets convicted for the murder they've committed in cold blood. It's always been like this, yes, but I think social media has made it more of a 'problem' per se.

I think this pretty much sums up the entire situation.

I wonder if Aaron has realized yet that his life is officially over.

My man just got life at 25 and all he could do was stand there with the I don't really wanna be here, but I gotta be here face. He definitely did it.

Well, despite others' analysis that his reaction was nonchalant, I saw a big tough guy that wanted to cry.

He's a sociopath though so he probably thinks the decision will be overturned on appeal.

AH is obviously mentally disturbed to make the choices he did, considering his athletic talent. How else can you explain someone willingly committing a crime that can only land you in jail, when you literally could have anything and everything you could possibly ever want? The man is a complete degenerate, a true tragedy for not only the victim, but for all those who are effected by AH's lack of a conscience.

I wonder what Kraft is thinking. Always wondered if his concern/love for AH was sincere, or something he just felt he should do. Deep down he had to know he wasn't good people.

In some respects, I agree and believe the jurors should have just excused themselves from the media and head straight home until they were allowed to decompress.

I think the laughter and joking was more cathartic than anything. Having to spend weeks dedicated to one single topic, having to take in loads of seemingly irrelevant information, and spend 36 hours discussing the fate of a single person took its toll, I'm sure. I don't fault them for their reactions, I fault the media for shoving a mic in their face and asking their opinion immediately following the verdict.

Lawyers seek to have Aaron Hernandez murder conviction thrown out

FALL RIVER, Mass. -- Lawyers for former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez have asked a judge to throw out his murder conviction, saying it was based on "improper speculation, conjecture and guesswork."

The lawyers say in papers filed this week with the trial judge that "no reasonable jury" could have found Hernandez guilty of killing Odin Lloyd in June 2013, and cite insufficient evidence for a conviction.

"Rather, improper speculation, conjecture and guesswork was required to reach a guilty verdict," they wrote.

They also argue that even if there were enough to support a murder conviction, the judge should reduce it to second-degree murder because there wasn't enough evidence that he acted with extreme atrocity or cruelty. A second-degree conviction would allow Hernandez to be eligible for parole after 15 years.

Please correct me but:
1)WTF at saying 'no reasonable jury' would convict when they DID in fact convict.

2)I thought you couldn't get a conviction overturned unless you had some specific evidence of improper legal proceeding or a piece of trail evidence being illegally obtained or used. So this feels baseless

3)They said the judge should have forced murder 2 because he wasn't cruel? I thought premeditation was the key to murder 1 and 2 AND just for the hell of it how is a handgun execution not cruel?

In civil cases, they would be asking for a JNOV, or judgement not withstanding the verdict. Not sure if it has a different phrase in criminal proceedings. Essentially, it means just what the article says, that the evidence admitted in court was insufficient to support a guilty plea.

Look at an extreme example. Murder case. The state stands up and says "your honor, we rest," without putting up any evidence. The jury deliberates and returns a guilty verdict for whatever reason. The defense counsel can then move for this verdict to be set aside, because based upon the admitted evidence, in this case nothing, no reasonable jury could have convicted their client.

That's what's going on here. They're arguing that the evidence presented to the jury was insufficient to support a guilty verdict. Now the judge has to look at the evidence to weigh its sufficiency. I would say this has very, very little chance to succeed.

So this is more of a standard appeals process then. I was a little worried that they may have some sort of proof or mishandled the case in some obvious non-contrived way that would let this monster walk.

D: I guess he knows he's done and decided to exert some prison justice already.
I barely heard of him before this since I don't keep up on individual players but what a hard case.

Looks like he joined the Bloods lol

The prison tattoo reads “lifetime loyalty” over a five-pointed star, and I don’t want to sound like an old retired police sergeant giving your middle school class a lecture on avoiding gangs and drugs, but the five-pointed star is one of the most commonly cited symbols of the Bloods gang.
