I'm so in. DS and 3ds are terrible on emulators.

Bought a used 3DS for this reason. It's amazing jailbroken/soft-moddedDS and 3ds are terrible on emulators.
Besides an actual fucking ds with r4?

Yeah, unlike the enthusiast stuff which seems extreme on the end of being ripped off, than value for money.I'm so in! Their devices are good enough.
It's fun tinkering with this stuff and it doesn't break the bank.
The issue is going to be slow SoC and reportedly 4" screens.Depending on screen size I might be in. It doesn't look very big though so I'm not getting my hopes up.
I think I finally came around on emulation, and while I have a modded n3DS it's awfully small and my hands cramp up after like 30 minutes. Would love to go back and play some of my DS/3DS library as well as some of the old Pokemon games.
Edit: I also see Retroid released a Dual screen add on that works with their Retroid Pocket 5 which I almost bought a couple times.
Does anyone know what the official specs are?
I have one too, but it certainly wasn't sub-$100.I have a modded 3ds as well
I'm assuming it'll be Android based with the dual screen setup. Unless they found a way to get their Linux OS to support two screens?Does anyone know what the official specs are?
Substantially weaker than even the retroid pocket 3+. You'll be able to run DS games with Drastic fine, but it's lower end than what I'd consider. I'd at least what MelonDS to run well for retroachievement support which is questionable with this chip. Shouldn't expect much better from a $100 dual screen handheld though.
It should handle n64/dreamcast fine also. Probably a decent amount of PSP but you probably won't be wanting to run that on a 4:3 screen.
Yeah, it's a bit too weak. Thor or Pocket DS (or rumored future Retroid Pocket dual screen) would be devices to get for 3DS.Yeah I don't think Ill be buying this. It's cool that it exists tho.
No, it's not going to be able to run 3DS well. You need something like Ayn Thor for that.Anyone know enough about that chip to answer this question would it be able to run 3ds well? If not I'm not interested personally
Performance is there in Ayn Thor or Ayaneo Pocket DS. You just need to pay $300-400 for it (shipping, taxes, etc).I haven't seen good 3ds emulation anywhere so far. I have the original hardware so if I really want to play something it's ok, but fuck those screens are tiny as shit. We need something more modern and bigger for sure, but the performance has to be there and it isn't in a lot of games.
| System | Native Resolution (per screen) | RG DS Resolution | Scaling Factor | Aspect Ratio | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nintendo DS / DSi | 256 × 192 | 640 × 480 | 2.5× (or 2× integer) | 4:3 → 4:3 | Very good. Integer 2× looks sharp with small borders, 2.5× slightly soft. |
| Nintendo 3DS (top) | 400 × 240 | 640 × 480 | ~1.6× | ~5:3 → 4:3 | Not ideal. Slight stretching or soft scaling, depending on emulator. |
| Nintendo 3DS (bottom) | 320 × 240 | 640 × 480 | 2× | 4:3 → 4:3 | Looks clean with integer scaling, no distortion. |
DS will be okay I think, 3DS probably not so much...Those specs are terrible even for DS.
I had problems running some DS games with that chip on a single screen device on linux, cant imagine how much worse it's goind to be on 2 screens with android.
If you dont have one already it's getting kind of expensive to find a 3DS in good condition. Can't beat a real 3DS.
To be precise - it's only 33% of the defintion of HDCan someone tell them that 640x480 is, by definition, not "HD"? Thanks.
Unless we had some amazing emulator development in the last year, i've tried it even on a proper pc and still found quite a few games running at low framerate... infamously I can think of fire emblem at least.Performance is there in Ayn Thor or Ayaneo Pocket DS. You just need to pay $300-400 for it (shipping, taxes, etc).
Bummer I mostly want to replay a link between worlds such a good game. No, it's not going to be able to run 3DS well. You need something like Ayn Thor for that.
