I've been doing some thinking and it occured to me that there is probably a very good reason why MS will be (according to rumors) bundling a webcam with the Xbox 360, and that it will be quite a killer app.

Remember a feature of the original Perfect Dark that looked amazing but was scratched at the last minute because of fear for bad press? That's right: Taking your picture with the GB Camera and placing your face on your custom-made character.

Now does it ring a bell to you guys too? I have a very strong feeling that MS wants to bring this back with Perfect Dark Zero. When you think about it, it makes perfect sense. MS has been pushing very hard about how the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live will have very strong customization features. So this is my guess: Every online player in PDZ will have his own custom character, with his own face, all thanks to the bundled webcam.

Isn't this something you'd want? I know I'd want to.

It'd have to be one hell of a piece of software to model a webcam pic into a passable next gen model face...cant see it happening.

Also the reasons it didnt get included on the N64 havent exactly gone away.

It'd be a good way of getting some controversy going though.

That piece of software was fully working on the N64 version last time Rare showed it.

Edit: But you got a point that next-gen models will probably be much more complex than just sticking a single texture on a flat faced polygon. But then again, Rare are coding gods.

What if a man digitally edits his face and replaces his nose with his penis? Will it be that smart? And what about the poor souls that have had penises grafted to thier nasal bones.. will they be discriminated against?

There are at least 2 ps2 games that do this with eyetoy, I read about them in the latest OPM. I think it was timesplitters and snowblind..
