Well, it's Ubisoft, so who gives a fuck. It's not like there's a big difference between shit at 30fps or at 60fps, it's still going to be shit.
60 looks like a soap opera
30 looks more like a movie
Because 30 looks more cinematic doesn't mean you should make your game run at 30 Ubi, it's a game after all. 60>30 no matter what the reasoning. These are videogames not movies.
I wonder why films aren't filmed in 60fps
...
Maybe I have bad eyes or something since everyone is telling me I'm wrong, but when I watch 60fps, it doesn't look natural.
Ftfy and because we only play as the main character and see the game through his eyes, she's getting her own book. We also can't play as the members of the assassin council.
If you don't like the game or the company then I really don't see the point in shitting up threads just to say that a game you haven't played is shit.Well, it's Ubisoft, so who gives a fuck. It's not like there's a big difference between shit at 30fps or at 60fps, it's still going to be shit.
Stuff like this has already worked in the past for gaming. And it has worked for many different mediums outside of gaming; there is no special quality to gaming that makes it different.
So I reject your premise.
Unless it hugely underperforms, they're going to think any loud negativity is all smoke and no fire. That's the problem.
You are more accustom to 30fps console games, right? I've been a PC gamer since PS2. When I play games like TLoU or GTA5 on console, 30fps feels bad to me and distracts from the experience. Why? Because I've been playing most every game at 60fps or more on PC.
There's a reason VR tech is racing towards really high refresh rates (95fps+) and not sitting at 30.
If you gave up 30fps games for a year and came back to them (having played 60fps games in the meantime) you'd laugh at this thread like everyone else, rather than defend the PR line.
Well, yeah. There's no motion blur - of course it doesn't look natural.Sorry, I should clarify. All I'm saying is, dude said 60fps doesn't look real, and I agree. When I watch a cutscene for a game that's running 60fps, take Ground Zeroes, for example, everything looks like it's running in fast forward. Maybe I have bad eyes or something since everyone is telling me I'm wrong, but when I watch 60fps, it doesn't look natural.
Is real life 30fps or 60fps?
So you wanna play as someone other than the main character in a series that's known for having only characters who're biologically directly related to the main character at the time playable, a fact that's embedded in its lore. What part of "You would've never seen yourself as anyone other than Arno" aren't you capable of understanding? Who also isn't an assassin but is a templar. She wouldn't have been playable unless she was the main character. You're acting like she was confirmed to be playable and then they said nope. Are you expecting to play as Quiet in MGSV?I don't give a fuck about the assassin council, i want to play as Elise but yeah it probably was too much work to make her playable when there were 10 studios working on the fucking game. Laughable.

Fuck. off. There isnt a game that exists that doesn't look better at 60FPS.
Being only able to hit 30fps is fine and playable, but dont make it out like it is a design decision.
Even worse that less than 4 months ago, this game was targetting 60FPS. Cut the bullshit.
So they don't expect PC owners to go above 30? It might ruin their vision?

Goddamn dude relax. The amount of damage control you have to do this week can't be healthy.
Honestly, I kind of believe them -- I don't necessarily agree with them, but I believe that they actually believe that the cost:benefit of 60FPS for them isn't aligned... That their game looks marginally better at 60FPS vs 30 and that they'd be sacrificing visual fidelity, atmosphere, or something else, so they've decided to stick with 30.
Yea but saying "It's Ubisoft so everything they make is shit" is a bit much.Well, said company did just say that 30 fps "feels better", which is a blatant lie and completely counter-productive to future video-games developments, so excuse me for being a little angry.
I'm completely calm dude. Ubi is doing damage control, i'm merely providing clarification for some things said that are nonsense, like ten studios suddenly=multiple playable characters in a game series that literally has lore reasons for not having every single character under the sun being playable.Goddamn dude relax. I have heard that somewhere before...
Still, what a load of BS, just look at MGSV trailer at 30fps and then at 60fps, both MGSV and AC are action adventure games, and MGSV looks a gazillion times better at 60fps.
Just give it up Ubisoft Montreal.

Apologies if my logic is flawed, but isn't there a fundamental difference between running at 24 frames per second when filming reality, and generating 24 frames per second in a videogame, in that one is capturing pre-existing information and the other is generating it on the fly in a sense? In one, you miss out on information and the brain pieces it together between frames, and in the latter the entire speed of everything is dependent on that framerate.

This is stupid thing to say. Sorry.
At this point, I think it's safe to say Ubisoft is specifically trolling certain segments of NeoGAF...

Amancio said that though female assassins were planned for the game, Ubisoft ran into "the reality of production."
"It's double the animations, it's double the voices, all that stuff and double the visual assets," Amancio said. "Especially because we have customizable assassins. It was really a lot of extra production work."
Speaking with Polygon during a different interview, level designer Bruno St-André estimated more than 8,000 animations would have had to be recreated on a different skeleton.
What a load of bullshit.
It's never better to play at 30 than at 60.
You might GET AWAY with it on certain games, but it's not better, fuck off.
So explain why Elise would be playable when we only play as the main character? Why wasn't Maria Thorpe playable in Revelations? It would make sense to complain that Claudia was never playable, cause she's Ezio's sister. Not Elise. Do people not realize that this game was designed with only one playable character in mind?Yeah I'm sure it's a "lore" issue and not a shove this game through the content pipeline to meet milestones and deadlines issue.
The frame rate really didn't make that much difference.
