AC Valhalla PS5 version runs at upscaled 4K

In the time since first posting the blog, Ubisoft has revised the wording to make clear that the PS5 iteration of Assassin's Creed Valhalla can indeed perform at 4K at 60 frames per second. In a follow-up message sent to us by a PR representative at the publisher, this notion was also made clear once again. "I can confirm that Assassin's Creed Valhalla runs at 4K at 60 fps on PS5 (upscaled 4K)," we were told.

I mean, it's probably dynamic. Every game is dynamic these days. Hopefully it can hit 4K or close to it a good bit of the time. Odyssey looked pretty clean on XOX and it was 1600-1800p most of the time.

And it being 60fps make it very worth it

I can bet my ass it will be dynamic 4k 60 on series x aswell , games like assasin creed and legion are brutal even on the highest ends of pc , ill be genuinely surprised if its native 4k 60 all the time on series x

same here, i just find it weird they didn't mention xsx

They're all upscaled... It's all going to be temporal accumulation + dynamic resolution. If you want native 4K then you're going to need a PC.

I think that even the XSX is upscaled too it will be a situation similar seen in XBX vs PS4 Pro where the XSX will have a higher and better resolution and assets.

Somehow expected, somehow a bummer. In the end it won´t really matter because the differences will be visible only in superdetailed breakdown videos where you have to count pixels which no sane person does at home.

Having said that: there is a platform that can easily run 4k60 and upwards, it´s called PC, so if one wants to experience that there is the option to do so.

get used to it and better hope that variable resolution + upscaling becomes the norm.

4k native is way too heavy for both the XSX and the PS5 for actual next gen games...if you wish to see some visual progress compared to this gen.

Considering the specs for PC I doubt either one will push native 4k but then again I never would of thought RDR2 would hit native either. So will have to wait and see.

In this blog post: https://news.ubisoft.com/en-us/arti...e-next-generation-of-consoles-get-the-details Ubisoft gives details about all those Consoles.

And according to Ubisoft in regards to Valhalla:

Xbox Series X | S: Take in the mysterious Northern Lights of Norway or the majesty of England's Stonehenge in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X.
PlayStation 5: PS5 players can immerse themselves in the stunning open world with the power of the Tempest 3D Audio Engine to hear the environment around them, along with detailed 4K at 60 frames per second visuals

What is weird here is that they say 4K resolution for Xbox Series X and for PS5 only detailed 4K. What does this even mean? They use the detailed 4K language only for Valhalla.

For example for Far Cry 6 they don't do this:

Far Cry has never looked so stunning, with luscious tropical vistas rendered at 60 frames per second at 4K resolutions on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Why is that?

Who cares?!
When the game is out, every single talk about this res madness is going to vanish. real 4K or DY4k is it really worth it?

By the way, it may be dynamic, but ubisoft doesn't claim it.

Can anyone here, hand on heart say that there's a difference between upscaled 4k and native 4k, while playing a game and not pausing to pixel count?

I prefer FauxK to 4K, with 60fps, no RT and all of the physics, destruction etc, dialled up to 11

I want every game to have dynamic settings on consoles.

But to not stop at 4k and to not stop at 60fps etc as both ps5 and xbox series x supports 8k 60hz and 4k 120hz so these games if programed this way will run better on pro consoles or ps6 xbox future generations.

Static resolution and frame rate is old technology.

Maybe Optimiziation? Valhalla runs on an "age old" Engine back from the Days of Unity (means the enginge was created earlier) and since it is mainly releasing on current gen platforms the next gen version would be somewhat "only upgrded ports" where they didn´t focus too much on or on different things. Watch Dogs will run only at 30fps but will have haptic feedback instead, Valhalla will have upscaled 4k but 60 fps and 3d sound. Seems like there are different priorities set by different teams working on different games.
