Ace Combat 5 - $5

Stores. They've already paid Namco 40 bucks or whatever for a copy of the game. Again, if anyone can get an extra I am willing to pay game + shipping + some extra/whatever (I want this to play!).

Sears near me "sold out" (read: put the stock in the storeroom) so we couldn't price match.

The Sears stores around here were all actually honoring the price. Unfortunately I'm a complete idiot and didn't go to them when they opened, despite the fact that I had been awake since something obscene like 4:30 AM. When it came time for them to open, a wave of doubt swept over me and I postponed the operation for a few hours. So, so stupid.

As for getting the deal, endless trial and error works. Best Buy was the first store I tried, and the clerk price-matched it for me even though he knew both that Sears had made an error AND that they were sold out of it. He was just a sorta chummy guy who really liked the game and felt like being cool, I guess. He also wanted to do the deal himself after work, and was really glad I turned him on to it.

After that, though, it was flop after flop. I tried Target, TRU, Wal*Mart, 2 Circuit Cities, Fred Meyer, and a couple other stores, and all of them denied me. I'm not complaining too much, since I got the game and all, but it could've been so much better if I hadn't been so lazy about getting to the stores early in the morning.

Well, I went to CC and tried it. After about 30 minutes, they denied me a 53 cent game. Wal-Mart allowed it though, and I walked as FAST AS I COULD out the door as about 6 Wal-Mart employees and managers had crowded around the Sears ad, wondering why the hell the game could be so cheap.

Hahah. Even if they did find out while you were walking away, they can't stop you and force you to return it. It's not like you're deceiving them...well actually you are, but you could just pretend that you had no idea it was a misprint :P

couldn't find it at sears, got denied at best buy, but finally got it pricematched at circuit city. 53 cents. i paid with pocket change. the old black dude at the register thought it was hilarious. why can't more cashiers be like him. i think i might try "returning" it to wal mart tomorrow.

That's what I had to do at CC. Bah.

I knew I would never get away with it at Best Buy (because I used to work there. :P).

It's Wal-Mart. They could have tackled me to the ground and forced me to work there for the money I cost them + interest for AC5 and that whole Beach Spikers/Home Run King thing...

What time did you pricematch, Wario? I was there about 3:00p, but the manager would not approve it.

At the same location? I got it at 11:00 AM...sorry if I jeopardized your price matching attempt :|

I'm happy someone got it pricematched. I'm not sure if TRU can legally pricematch one person and not everyone else that comes in provided they have the game in stock. Oh well...

Is the ad still good for this week? I didn't bother to try because I didn't think anyone would price match. I'm shocked that so many of you have had so much success. I'd love to get a $0.53 AC5.

The Sears ad is only for Saturday, but i'm sure someone could finagle an employee at BB/CC to pricematch past the expiration date.

Why arent you people who did this getting multiple copies? Does it only work on one or something? =(

I didn't get multiple copies because there were only 2 copies there. I'm sure this is the reason for most others, too.

sorry guys i didn't score any copies. my wife got a late start and didn't get to Sears until too late, they were sold out. but Sears was honoring the ad price though. no wal-mart out of the 5 we checked had a copy in but were also going to honor the price match. Circuit City would have price matched if Sears had some in stock, which they didn't. so no go for me. i tried though and would have hooked everyone here up if i could have got some copies. :(

I tried TRU, Target, Wal*mart, Fred Meyer, 2 Circuit Cities, and Best Buy, and only Best Buy would do it. Believe me, I was trying my absolute hardest to get more than one. :D

The local Sears had 2 copies of AC5 Friday night, but they were sold out by the time I got there Saturday morning (stopped @ Foley's first to buy some clothes). I tried to do the pricematch thing at Wal-Mart, but after a lengthy discussion between the managers (never a good sign) they decided the sale was a "gimmick" and wouldn't honor it. Target (at least the one I frequent) doesn't do pricematching anymore, and some friends that work at Best Buy told me they already knew about the sale and were going to refuse to pricematch because it was a misprint.

So no $5 Ace Combat for me. :(

Don't be sad, more people will be exposed to this awesome series and they will inflate the NPD numbers for November!

Ahh well, guess I wont get this game since I doubt it'll drop below 20 bucks. Loved AC on the original PSX but havent played any interations after.

first of all - i want to thanks to the guy who start this forum, without him/her i wouldn't be able to pick up 4 copys of ace combat 5 for only $20 dollars, i wish i could post this comment on last saturday but sadly my account just got activated today. not going to trade in to eb since they only pay $10 for each copy. any suggestion??

Sell them to people on the forum, I'm sure some people would like a copy

And $10 trade in? Wow, EBgames continues to rape their customers
