After 10 years, you can now access your vault in Destiny 2 from anywhere in the game.

Until this point, neither the first game or the sequel allowed this. For most of that time, players had to visit a destination and then walk over to a vault in order to see their complete collection of weapons and armor. Destiny 2 received an update several years ago that allowed vault access through the use of a phone app, but this convenience could not be accessed in the game itself. Eventually, Destiny 2 was updated a little under a year ago to allow vault access from "orbit," which is essentially the main "select your destination" menu. As of just last week, Destiny 2 was finally updated to allow players to access their vault from anywhere in the game.

10 years later.

Nice QoL change that could've/should've happened years ago.

You actually could access vault inside of activities for a while now... you just had to prepare to launch an activity, at which point you'd see an option to go into your vault. Not actually sure if it worked when you were in a fireteam but not the leader. But it was a workaround I'd occasionally use when DIM was down or whatever.

One of Destiny's many sins was the "UX" design. Trying to be too sleek, too cutesy. And launching on console-only for the original also hurt. At its heart it's much more of a PC style game, and the vault management would have been greatly improved by the ability to... search with text. You know. Like DIM.

So ultimately, it's not as useful as it sounds as the vault has no filtering ability and terrible sort options. I'll keep using DIM for the most part. I just won't use DIM's "farming mode" again, as it's kind of cumbersome to keep running, and now I can quickly look at my loot, and if it's not an insta-melt, just hit one key and click it to vault it and retain my inventory space for the next piece of junk loot.
