Curious to see how an RTS like Age of Empires II plays on a DualSense (any controller, really). Partly because my first RTS experiences were Command & Conquer and StarCraft 64 on the Nintendo 64. This console was a weird gateway to several PC games that I would play in their original forms later.

Not an optimal way to play those games at all, but they did work.

The game you can play on your mom's laptop finally comes to PlayStation? I played this game since Zone and you won't be able to play this with trackpad. 0 chance. Requires swift and precise responses. How do you even select a tiny little monk and target the tiny little high cost enemy unit with trackpad?

So how do you play AoE in console? Never tried strategy on consoles before.
Never played AoE on consoles, but I have played both halo wars 1&2 on Xbox with controller and it was awesome. It all depends how controller mapping is done. But playing RTS with gamepad instead of kb+m is possible and can be very good experience.

Ironically, I first played Age of Empires 2 on the PS2. I tried the PC version a couple of years later and then bought the PC version a few days later and never looked back.

Is it still possible to use cheats to spawn a Dodge Viper with a machinegun? Or was that in Age of Empires 1?

No Dodge Viper with machine gun = no buy

Edit: What, after some googling I realize it was a Cobra all along. I blame resolution and childhood memories or something

Halo wars are RTS games designed around controllers/consoles though, so they are significantly simplified in comparison to other RTS games.

Probably because it played great on controller. I do admint, finishing all AoE and AoM games on PC with kn+m combo.

But what games support mkb on playstation? Only ever played UT3 on PS3, don’t know of any PS4/5 games with mkb support.
Personally, I know of UT3 on PS3 and FFXIV from PS3 up to now.
Don't Predecessor and Throne and Liberty support kbm?
There are more this gen, at least. Hunt Showdown as well, maybe? Not at home, so can't check rn.

Probably some other games, but it was up to the devs.
The option was there though, even back on PS2 apparently.

I know Red Alert 3 didn’t have mkb support fore some reason. I guess the devs where really proud of their control scheme, which admittedly was pretty good. Still a strange omission, really wish there would be mkb supported RTS games on console, it’s the one PC exclusive genre I’m really into.

Idc for RTS, personally, but I would love to be able to play Warhammer Total War on Playstation.

Was a massive tabletop Warhammer Fantasy nerd when I was a teen.

More support for mkb on consoles would always be good anyway, imo.

Yeah me too! My PC would blow up trying to play Total Warhammer III, a PS5 port would be very welcome indeed.

Gonna be honest for me nothing beats mk but I play all the time age of empires on series x with gamepad and is still works amazing for me.

In fact age of empires, halo wars, company of heroes 3 and even old command and conquer games it works wonders...I guess it depends how good is the optimization....

I own every single version of the game ever released so I'm good, but always happy to see more people getting into strategy games that have nearly disappeared the past few years.
