AI overlords will take over cinema in next decade? It’s getting crazy

I just want someone to make my longawaited Dynamite Headdy sequel, even if it’s AI. If I am able to set the parameters of any remake I want even better.

It’s just a shame that the whole world has to lose it’s collective soul in the process, may as well call this period post-civilisation because no one’s going to be interacting with each other after this.

AI as it is now is launching from a platform of the sum of all human-created content. But once AI takes off in earnest and can iterate and train itself on its own datasets, the amount of NEW (post-AI revolution) human-generated content that can be incorporated into AI training will be dwarfed by the data that AI itself created. Example: AI today is trained on, say, 99% human-generated content, but someday it'll by 99% AI-generated content in a self-replicating feedback loop.

What I'm trying to get at is that things are going to get weird. One of the bottlenecks on all the "noise" generated by AI is going to be the filtering down to quality content so that it can be re-entered into the generating system as a guiding parameter, something humans typically do by word-of-mouth and spending. Cream rises to the top. But with the unprecedented tidal wave of content that will be generated faster than humans can consume it (exponentially more than there is today, which is already too much to be reasonably filtered), there needs to be an automated way of "guiding" AI to create the best content. I don't know what that process will be, but it seems inevitable, and I'm interested in how it plays out.

Harry Potter in some weird 80’s dark fantasy style

These are amateurs doing these, imagine if in coming years a big company unlocks these to make full movies. You could pick the style, modify the actors, voice, acting style.. the sky is the limit with this tech.

Endless entertainment?

I guess someone will say it looks fake but that’s a matter of time, 10 years from now, who can predict how good it can be.

When we get our own individual AI’s I’ll be calling mine Shirka.

I’m interested to see what happens when multiple AI’s programmed with different behaviours and ideologies start going to war with each other or give conflicting advice.

Well, the writing can only improve.

AI can only generate what has been fed into it, as much as it can easily the next blockbuster movie it can never create a Citizen Kane or 12 Angry Men.

Yea it’s all fun and games while AI is generating Harry Potter pictures, but then…

You know, after the pandemic I feel like I'm ready for an AI pandemic where a super AI takes over all electronics for the coming two years. And then after that a massive solar storm that lasts for another two years which renders all usage of Internet and electronics impossible.

Let's just get all the horrible stuff out of the system in this decade. And then maybe life can get good.

Oh god

Real-time (?) diffusion with that kind of quality? It’s advancing so fast

This is nuts. I think it’s great, because we can all make our own movies soon. Just want to know the processing power and what kind of computer. In the cloud you,ll have to pay a subscription, but I want to do that shit on my own computer.

So we're roughly a year and a half since the creating the thread, I thought that already things have moved way beyond the initial posts, which had faces very static and barely moving around, like a photograph with lips moving and a slight head nod at best.

Now it made a huge leap in the past months. Thinking that these are made by amateurs with not even the best tools available, such as OpenAI giving exclusive access to actual movie studios before public, its still mind blowing what they achieve during the equivalent to a day or weekend effort.

What shocks me is that AI art style they can nail it so good. Makes the videogames which are now mainly chasing the realism, feel boring in comparison especially when they are a medium where you can literally make anything you want. I wonder if AI will help speed up processes as finding a style, or storyboarding, as its so fast to create motion now out of prompts.

Oh and AI nails hot chicks, like really good. Must've had a ton of porn fed through the machine learning :pie_thinking:

What's it gonna be in another year?

I think there is a certain mathematical precision to "hot chicks" that makes them easy to replicate. Plus you can often see the underlying real person it's riffing from, that's the kinda thing that will get AI media creation shut down. As a commercial product it's very limited by the source it's drawing from and infringement.

Kinda like how deep fakes look pretty good versus deaging tech in film. The deep fake is often "stealing" data in ways the deager can't.

For me the real value in ai is bridging gaps between human created things. A person draws a spaceship and the AI fleshes it out in all dimensions so the artist doesn't have to draw it from every angle needed. It should reduce labor, not replace it.

Though for porn I can see folks tiring of AI perfection and wanting flaws...
