Best Buy is listing the Aladdin DVD as 10/5/04. Mark your calendars.

I, too, will log my vote for Aladdin for best Disney movie.

Make way for Prince Ali
Say hey! It's Prince Ali

Hey! Clear the way in the old Bazaar
Hey you!
Let us through!
It's a bright new star!
Oh Come!
Be the first on your block to meet his eye!

Make way!
Here he comes!
Ring bells! Bang the drums!
Are you gonna love this guy!

Prince Ali! Fabulous he!
Ali Ababwa
Genuflect, shom some respect
Down on one knee!
Now, try your best to stay calm
Brush up your sunday salaam
The come and meet his spectacular coterie

Prince Ali!
Mighty is he!
Ali Ababwa
Strong as ten regular men, definitely!
He faced the galloping hordes
A hundred bad guys with swords
Who sent those goons to their lords?
Why, Prince Ali

He's got seventy-five golden camels
Purple peacocks
He's got fifty-three
When it comes to exotic-type mammals
Has he got a zoo?
I'm telling you, it's a world-class menagerie

Prince Ali! Handsome is he, Ali Ababwa
That physique! How can I speak
Weak at the knee
Well, get on out in that square
Adjust your vein and prepare
To gawk and grovel and stare at Prince Ali!

There's no question this Ali's alluring
Never ordinary, never boring
Everything about the man just plain impresses
He's a winner, he's a whiz, a wonder!
He's about to pull my heart asunder!
And I absolutely love the way he dresses!

He's got ninety-five white Persian monkeys
(He's got the monkeys, let's see the monkeys)
And to view them he charges no fee
(He's generous, so generous)
He's got slaves, he's got servants and flunkies
(Proud to work for him)
They bow to his whim love serving him
They're just lousy with loyalty to Ali! Prince Ali!

Prince Ali!
Amorous he! Ali Ababwa
Heard your princess was a sight lovely to see
And that, good people, is why he got dolled up and dropped by
With sixty elephants, llamas galore
With his bears and lions
A brass band and more
With his forty fakirs, his cooks, his bakers
His birds that warble on key
Make way for prince Ali!

I always put Aladdin on top of my list, I really enjoyed The Emperor's New Groove because I thought Atlantis and Tarzan took themselves too seriously and suffered for it. I enjoyed B&B, The Little Mermaid as well. Lion King is meh, its alright.

1. Aladdin
2. Beauty and the Beast
3. Emperor's New Groove
4. The Little Mermaid
5. Lion King

Then muck for the rest of the Disney 2D animation from the 80s to 00s.

Are we just talking about post-comeback (Little Mermaid and afterward) Disney? Then Aladdin is one of the best. Otherwise:

Fantasia?
Snow White?
Pinocchio?

They all kick Aladdin's ass. Pinocchio getting wasted, smoking cigars, and spontaneously growing donkey ears >>>> anything in Aladdin.

1.) Bambi takes the cake just because it was so many years ahead of its time.
2.) Beauty in the Beast kicks Aladins ass. Same for the Lion King.
3.) The earlier stuff with the dark scary moments are where it's at. Disney movies used to take you the full spectrum when your a kid. From being completely freaked to super stoked.

I'm sorry, I have to go on the deep end with Toy Story, it's the only movie I still enjoy watching these days from Disney. These other I happen to watch when I just feel up to it. They're wonderful films, but I didn't enjoy them quite as much. I have tog ive Aladdin props though, the sequels aren't even half bad, which is something Disney often has trouble with and it seems only Toy Story and Aladdin have had worthy sequels. As far as overall animated films though, these definitely take the cake for being near the top.

Toy Story -> Lion King | Aladdin -> Toy Story 2 -> The Little Mermaid -> Beauty and the Beast -> 101 Dalmations -> Cinderella -> Sleeping Beauty.

Aladdin is by far my favorite. I also enjoy Emperor, Lion King, and some others of course that I don't feel like thinking to remember.

seriously how could you put lilo and stich before beauty & Beast, how could you put it before any of the older disney. i think that lilo and stich is one of the worst of the new disney, that and brother bear. the only thing that has kept away a mob is pixar. other than that the new disney is teh suck!

I was just thinking the same thing. Holy shit. The complete lack of anything pre-1985 in this thread is very sad.

You should all know that Sleeping Beauty completely rips the ass of any 1985-current Disney movie, and is the all-round best Disney produced movie ever. Snow White is a close second.

Beauty and the Beast is still my favorite Disney movie... and favorite American movie...

Aladdin would have been a contender but after seeing it 3x in the theater, all the jokes got old really fast, and I never wanted to watch it again (and never have). By contrast, I've seen The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast over 15x each.

Error Macro is right: Old Disney pisses all over New Disney. You can basically just look at their first five films - Snow White (1937), Pinocchio (1940), Fantasia (1940), Dumbo (1941), and Bambi (1942) - and assume it's all downhill from there.

Assuming we're only looking at New Disney, I'm still giving it to Beauty and the Beast, with Lilo and Stitch a close second. Aladdin is sustained by Robin Williams alone, and even then just barely. Feh.

Of course, Pixar trounces anything New Disney has done, period.

On a side note, as impressive as the '37 Snow White is, I much prefer the Betty Boop Snow White short from 1934, which features the Fleischer Brothers at their surrealistic peak, drug references a go-go, and rotoscoped Cab Calloway dancing to "St. James Infirmary".

Only problem is that disney really didn't do that movie, pixar did.

It'd be hard to rank em. There's some that just hit the right emotions and are perfect movies and more recently formulated crap. My favorites, expelling Pixar flicks:

Aladdin
Lion King (#1)
Beauty and the Beast
Little Mermaid
Oliver & Company
Fox and the Hound
Bambi
Dumbo
Jungle Book (#3)
101 Dalmations (#2)
Fantasia
Rescuers Down Under

I figured that was why no one else had listed them. Nonetheless, it's not that hard to just remove them from the list, no?

Beauty and The Beast & The Little Mermaid had some really beautiful and moving music. I remember watching the Beauty and the Beast musical in London 5 years ago and it was a wonderful experience

I loved Aladdin, Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast about the same. They're all good for different reasons. It's hard for me to rate one over the other.

Before those, I remember really enjoying The Great Mouse Detective, The Fox and the Hound, Oliver and Company, The Little Mermaid, The Sword in the Stone, and of course the classics like Bambi (up until his mom dies and he becomes an adult- then I forget EVERYTHING about the movie), Dumbo, and Pinnochio.

Since The Lion King, I liked Mulan, and Lilo and Stitch, but Emperor's New Groove the best.

Cant wait till the 5th too.

Aladin
Beauty and the Beast
Jungle Book
Little Mermaid (dont ask me)
Lion King
Oliver and Company (first movie i ever saw)
Lady and the Tramp
Alice in Wonderland

those are my favorite Disney movies

you could include the following as i like but dont love:

Pocchohantus
Hercules
Mulan

Kiriku

SWEDISH PERFECTION
I'll never understand what people saw in Emperor's New Groove. I was expecting something funny, had really been looking forward to it, but instead got some lame over-the-top ohoh haha jokes that tried to cover up the almost total lack of any story or characters whatsoever. It was like watching a too long episode from any (m)ass production disney cartoon series of your choice. Man, what a disappointment. Different strokes, I guess... :|

I still claim Lion King to be the best, but I've never actually seen Aladdin. Which I now have to in the very near future. :)

Oh i might add that Rescuers Down Under also Rocks. Heck a lot of them do and fantasia is sadly underated even after all these years. Theres good ideas and bad ideas. And disney has been killed by its bad ideas in the past 10 years.

Grizzlyjin

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
Almost...it goes Lion King, then Aladdin, then Beauty and the Beast.

But I must mention that I still haven't seen Mulan.

You really are the homosexual version of me, I think.

Aladdin is my favorite as well. Been waiting on that DVD since the Lion King DVD.

I'm looking forward to this DVD, because I haven't seen Aladdin in years. Essentially, it is the one 90s Disney film I didn't end up with on VHS for some odd reason, so I didn't even rewatch it much as a kid. Looking forward to seeing it again.

Lion King and Beast are my favs of the early 90s, Late and then Early 00's goes to Emperor's New Groove and Lilo and Stitch. Watched Brother Bear last night...thought Lion King 1 1/2 was better.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
In terms of the comeback era, yeah, Aladdin is probably my favorite. It's just the most fun, and I'd put The Little Mermaid right behind it, with The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast afterwards. I haven't enjoyed any of Disney's animated films since The Lion King. I saw Pocahontas, Hunchback, Hercules, Atlantis and Treasure Planet, and all were really weak. I still want to give Mulan and Lilo & Stitch a chance though.

In terms of Disney's entire history, well, Bambi, Snow White, Pinnochio, Fox and the Hound, Sleeping Beauty and Fantasia are all up there.

I've just started recollecting these all on DVD. I just picked up Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty and Fantasia. I'm kicking myself hard for not grabbing Snow White early on. I desperately need to find a new copy of that somehow. Then Aladdin and Bambi when those are released, and many of those others whenever I can spare the money. Disney's done a whole ton of great ones, but the past decade hasn't been good at all. I'm really, really hoping some of those upcoming ones are good, like Rapunzel.

No props for Tarzan? I thought it was pretty good, Jane was hot.

In the end, just not interesting enough. Like Brother Bear and Treasure Planet, I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the movies, just nothing that good. Same with Atlantis, etc.

Lilo and Stitch was mediocre - very overrated imo.
I had to watch Brother Bear on a long bus ride last month - it was pretty good actually.

My faves, tho, are:
-Lion King
-Mulan
-Little Mermaid
-Aladdin
-Beauty and the Beast

...with Lion King being the best (and one of the best movies ever).

Man, Disney used to be like, um, Pixar.

Beauty and the Beast 10
The Little Mermaid 10
Lion King 9
Mulan 8
Emperor's New Groove 8
Aladdin 6

I just remember not liking it too much. I also remember a lot of the backgrounds having really rough CG work on them. My opinion may come from watching the movie on a Saturday with a theater full of screaming kids who wouldn't sit still.

The only one I can think of is the temple where they're being chased by Lava. That and the tiger head. Was there more? It's been awhile.

Holy crap. I couldn't begin to rate the Disney films.. that'd be hard for me.

I like Aladdin a lot too.. probably more than the others. I have lots of merchandise from it. I did a project in Grade 2 on it! I remember I went on a date with my mom to go see it. Oh man, early nineties.. those were the days.
