I would say the publishers were the ones who did it a disservice, not the consumer.Alan Wake II is an absolutely brilliant game that pushes the action/horror genre several steps forward.
If you’re a fan of the action/horror but you’re waiting for a physical release or a sale price, you’re doing the genre a huge disservice. Publishers are going to stop putting any kind of decent funding to single player horror unless the game’s name is Resident Evil.
If that's true, that they are doing it for more appeal, have we broken down how much success has come from said decision? I only ask because how do we know if The Little Mermaid, for example, would have done worse if Ariel remained a white, red-haired girl? If casting a black girl instead helped the franchise then sure, I'd give that credit where due. We just need a breakdown of financials/critical reception before we can proclaim this (again, just an example).Companies arent race swapping for the sake of it. They are race swapping since it's an easier sell to customers an existing movie or game franchise with a racial or gender swap, then to create a brand new IP where the newly created lead characters are non-whities.
The companies have zero confidence in that kind of material being a big seller.
No, because she is being mind controlled to say bad things about a certain character. Among other things like how she is a terrible mother. It's not something that suddenly comes out of nowhere. It was an attempt to break her mind.I havent played the game.
So if she got mind controlled to say bad things, does she say any negative stuff to other ethnic backgrounds? Or just against white people?
Idk it was killing my 3060ti and had to run it in dlss down to 768p or whatever. I'm guessing a regular 3060 would have been 500ishp.It's a good game - well produced. Probably has a false reputation for being too demanding on PC hardware and also being on EGS was a mistake.
She isnt mind controlled. No, because she is being mind controlled to say bad things about a certain character. Among other things like how she is a terrible mother. It's not something that suddenly comes out of nowhere. It was an attempt to break her mind.
Games like this (whether it's Alan Wake 2 or a different game), are typically short SP narratives. You arent losing out waiting unless you truly crave the game and click on spoilers. It makes no difference if you play it now or wait a year for a bargain bin or sub plan.I regretted not listening to players about Death Stranding. I won't make the same mistake with this game. I've read many comments about it being boring, so I think I'll wait for it to come to Gamepass.
Yes, mind controlled to let her innermost terrible thoughts take over her entire mindset. Break her down so the darkness can take over. The argument is only brought up in a dishonest way that entirely lacks context. When I first saw it on this forum I was not a fan of it myself, and then I got to that exact part and it was nothing. She isnt mind controlled.
It’s her bad side coming out. Her inner thoughts that everyone keeps for themselves.
Doesn’t matter anyway. The sheer fact of going this way invokes the whole argument
The fact that it has impressed reviewers so much and won major awards has piqued my curiosity, especially with the substantial discount on Epic. But you're right, it can wait.Games like this (whether it's Alan Wake 2 or a different game), are typically short SP narratives. It's not like playing MP sports or shooters where you got to get in at the beginning to level up with everyone else so you arent a level 1 scrub getting plastered.
I just got into buying Steam and GOG games during Xmas 2020. Some games i bought and enjoy playing are made in the 90s. And some of the indie bargain games I buy for $3 are made years ago. Still the same game. If anything, it's better now than years ago because I get the game with multiple patches already built into the game. No MP requirement needed in these games for modern day competitive gaming. So it can wait.
Marketing matters y'all. + their games are "sony games" withouth the sony muscle.
Alan Wake 2 can only dream to have so many innovative complex gameplay mechanics as Death Stranding. anyone who says DS is a walking sim have not played the game.I regretted not listening to players about Death Stranding. Remedy knows their games arent blockbuster sellers, so they ensure to do marketing partnerships to guarantee a set amount of money to cover the costs. I dont think any games they have made are big sellers. Taking a skim of some of their games on wiki, a game might top out at 3-5M copies after selling for a long time (which would include bargain binning).I mean Remedy just seem to love shooting themselves in the foot, the original Alan Wake didnt set the world on fire either thanks to exclusivity and poor marketing, American Nightmare the same. Quantum Break flopped again due to exclusivity on a smaller player base. And now AW2…Digital only, exclusive to EGS, come the fuck on this level of stupidity is beyond a joke, if your going digital only you damn fucking well better have a Steam release, its just so unbelievably fucking STUPID to think EGS was a good idea…
They're like the western version of Platinum Games. Industry darlings and get good critical reception but not many interested in actually buying their games. But still get funded and supported by publishers anyways.I’d say that’s a given. If not for subscription services to sell to, Remedy would’ve probably gone under by now.
Then the publishers shouldn't be so stupid as to make said single player horror game and not realise that the audience that likes that stuff has a massive overlap with people who prefer physical copies with the full game on disc.Alan Wake II is an absolutely brilliant game that pushes the action/horror genre several steps forward.

It was a perfect stranding type game all right.Alan Wake 2 can only dream to have so many innovative complex gameplay mechanics as Death Stranding. anyone who says DS is a walking sim have not played the game.
I'm convinced that a bunch of you guys just cry woke for the sake of crying woke. Like literally anything you don't like......WOKE.
Especially this guy. lol
Yep. That's my opinion on why it didn't sell well.Well duh, epic exclusive and no physical release on consoles
I wonder if Epic ended up taking a net loss from funding the game. Honestly, I wouldn't be sad at all.
of course is not going to stick because a "sony game" means the highest production values and polish in the biz.I've tried to troll by calling every 3rd person game a sony game but was never able to make it stick. Can you help me?
Don't say that I've just bought it.Idk it was killing my 3060ti and had to run it in dlss down to 768p or whatever. I'm guessing a regular 3060 would have been 500ishp.
It’s been almost two months since Alan Wake 2 was released. While the game is undoubtedly a massive success among the fans, the financial numbers might not have lived up to expectations.
- Remedy Entertainment has not announced any sales figures for Alan Wake 2 after nearly two months, pointing to poor sales.
- Exclusivity on Epic Games and the lack of a physical release might have hindered sales.
- The sales numbers may have improved after Alan Wake 2 won various awards at TGA 2023.
Despite this impressive horror release, Remedy Entertainment has yet to announce any sales figures, suggesting the game didn’t sell well.
Concerns were raised when Mat Piscatella from Circana reported that the game failed to make it among the top 100 played titles on Xbox and PlayStation. While Epic Games sales weren’t included, this was a major red flag.
In a year like 2023, Remnant 2 sold 1 million copies in a week. Therefore, there was reason to believe Alan Wake 2 would achieve even better results, but nearly two months after launch, Remedy Entertainment has not made any announcements.

Probably took a couple Fortnite skins to fund the game. Epic will be fine.I wonder if Epic ended up taking a net loss from funding the game. Honestly, I wouldn't be sad at all.
The game is very special and will certainly not appeal to the masses. But after a few years, especially after the Game Awards success, I think 3-4 mil is possible.Considering Control sold 3 million in 3 years, that's what I'm expecting this game to do too.
I remember Alan Wake 1 sold like 1 million in 2 years so yeah, I'm sure they were not expecting blockbuster numbers.
Agree, it’s a perfect gift for RE and Silent Hill fans this holiday season.Resident Evil fans should have jumped on this one. I love it.
ESG on EGS.Guys, my uncle works at Remedy and he said that this is what they think about everyone who didn't buy Alan Wake II:
