Alien 3 - Did Bishop smuggle the egg?

It's just supremely lazy and foolish plotting.

I want to make excuses for Alien 3 because the work print and many elements showed a lot of promise and Fincher composed some lovely shots and tried real hard to save it but the film is flawed in many areas driven by its crazy quilt script and the opening sequence is one of the worst offenders (even as its one of the best shot and composed).

So no. It's supposed to somehow have got there despite the Queen having no egg sack and being too big to get to that spot because she was on the ship and they needed an egg to start the plot.
 
I don't think it shows where the egg actuslly is. Rather it just shows it hanging from the ceiling somewhere, probably off the dropship. The facehugger most likely found its way to the cryochamber.

BUT it's foolish to think that Bishop wasn't invested in procuring the alien for the return home. His tactic was very different from that of Ash in Alien.
