Alien 5 (Sigourney Weaver) TBA

I remember back in '97, Drew's Script-o-Rama website came out with a load of unshot/early draft movie scripts and I read a few Alien 3 ones.

One that vaguely stayed with me was William Gibson's version that featured a shopping mall. Ripley is in a coma, Hicks, Bishop, and Newt are alive with a host of new characters.

I wonder how that script stood up over the years.
It was made into a comic.

Aliens 3 is a pleb filter still I see. I used to not like it because it didn't have a conformist narrative, but that was when I was a teenager.

Had some really good British actors in it too. It's a much better film than anything that came after it. Alien: Romulus is complete garbage that is lacking in any coherent themeing and is just references. Naming something after the Romulus and Remus mythology and doing nothing with it just shows how bad a writer Fede Alvarez is. James Cameron just added an S to the end of Alien and made heat.

I'm more for this than anything else, Neil Blomkamp makes shit films but at least he was willing to have a go with what people wanted to see. Ridley Scott just wants to destroy any remaining mystery behind the Space Jockey and have Pinocchio in space. Fuck all that.

The workprint version makes it far more watchable but I wouldn't be too upset if they figured out a way to retcon it out of existence so I could have a live action version of Earth War with Hicks and grown-up Newt.

Ripley is sitting at an Island tiki bar with a de-aged face, then out pops a second Alien queen and just mirks her quick, one and done.

Then we all clap because it was so smart and subversive.

3 is dogshit. Xenomorph won't touch Ripley with a ten foot pole and practically every other character is despicable so there are zero stakes. The only one that isn't has one of the dumbest mystery backgrounds imaginable. The inmates' only strength is in numbers so naturally they want to spread out and pull off a Scooby Doo trap except they can't even get that right. Apparently the Xenomorph is immune to molten metal and fire but a little steam and it goes kablooey and its acid is rendered inactive. It is honestly worse than anything that came after it with the sole exception of Alien: Earth.

Because she has a chestburster inside of her... Did you even watch the movie? It's established in the opening scene.

Why would there be no stakes because they're criminals? lmao. What a childish take, they are paying for the crimes as it stands now, there's no need for redemption they're in an awful situation. There being no weapons makes it a game changer, if everyone can die and they nearly all do how is that not some form of stakes?

Also no mention of the Charles Dance fake out landing and the most iconic image from the series being from this movie? Bro please. This movie stomps the fuck out of anything that came after it. Stop the 🧢

Show me any screen from any movie after this that's iconic. I'll wait.

She died in 3, then Walmart bought Weyland-Yutani, and 200 years later some new company cloned her and put an alien queen inside her.

There is no way to do this without having her being some old clone.

I had no idea the thing had life after being an abandoned script. Though it seems that it was the second version that was made into a comic, however the first draft is now a novel.

They also did an audio drama. I read the comic, as much as I'm defending Alien 3 the Gibson vision would've been a fine addition. Only problem is there's humans who shape-shift into Xenomorphs or something.

I think the last Alien movies are so poorly made... That they make Alien 3 a masterpiece 😨
