Alien Covenant Trailer Released

I love seeing McBride and Franco together in a big sci-fi movie. just a shame it's an alien movie after the last 3 dumpster fires.

oh well, Ridley Scott always got my ticket. even if plenty of his movies end up being pretty mediocre. Pretty cool how Katherine Waterston just blew up. Been seeing in her in plenty of films after Inherent Vice.

I think it was stated in multiple press releases that the synopsis involved the Covenant crew ending up on "paradise" which is the Engineer homeplanet but strangely derelict. They're supposed to come across David at some point in the story who I assume is no longer a detached head.

Some of the set pictures that were caught show what looked like the race of engineer people frozen in some statue-like state, almost like what happened to the people of Pompeii. So you can probably assume that there was some scientific catastrophe that resulted in the death of the populace and spread of the alien spore pods around the planet's ecosystem.

Ok so I'm now officially enthused.

Ohhhhhhh i hope Franco has a GLORIOUS death.

Surprised at the negativity in here.

I love Alien and Aliens, and like Prometheus but the rest I don't care for. Covenant looks like could be at least as good as Prometheus from the trailer I saw this weekend and you know the film will be gorgeous visually.

I figured the return of the Xenomorph would cause more excitement.

This is the crew of the new ship. Shaw apparently has a small role in the film.

That's... odd. She was the lead in Prometheus and went through so much. Was the actress not available? That pretty much guarantees her getting killed off, right?

Shaw is getting the Newt treatment :(

Watching the trailer I realized how much this franchise has cannibalised itself. There wasn't anything new there that excites me. Felt like a complete retread of shittier movies.

I hope I'm proven wrong.

I hope there's a poster hinting at something new in the next few months. A traditional-looking Xeno (RUN) and egg (HIDE), while nostalgia inducing, aren't interesting at all.

Looking forward to it. I'm hoping it offers a broader view of the story and how it connects to Prometheus. I need some Engineer action

Yup. I want the this series to push even farther than Prometheus' tangent. I wanted the Prometheus series to function somewhat like an anthology (using that term very loosely) with Shaw's existential search for answers being the throughline, while each sequel had a different hellscape setting and horror concept just reminiscent of Alien (the classic remaining its own standalone mystery).

Maybe Fox has kept its cards close to its chest and the trailer tomorrow will have something meaningfully strange in it for me to get interested in like I was in Prometheus' ancient astronaut aspect, but I'm prepared for the Alien/Aliens retread Covenant is primarily looking to be.
