Another thing I'd forgotten about until I saw it mentioned elsewhere - what happened to those tick creatures? They made a big deal about them escaping on the ship, but are never seen again.
It's something 15-year-olds think is cool. Very much some elder millenial's ego project. Alt-J? In my Alien franchise?I think the reason why they always have cool music in the end is because people would otherwise leave with a strong feeling of "this sucked and was very boring".

The USCSS Nostromo was valued at $42 million just two years after this episode, so I'm guessing they've gone through a deflationary spiral or two.Boy-Wankshaft offers a million dollars to anyone who can find and protect him. A million dollars? In 2120? I'm assuming that'd be about the value of a second-hand car if inflation carries on at its usual pace.
That's true. I just assumed the writers didn't cleverly create some backstory on the finances of the world. The more likely scenario is they just never watched the movies and made a whole bunch of moronic mistakes because they have no respect for the IP.The USCSS Nostromo was valued at $42 million just two years after this episode, so I'm guessing they've gone through a deflationary spiral or two.

which sounded expensive when it was written in 1986.Well for reference, the going rate for an entire M-class star freighter is only about 42 million unadjusted dollars.
Minus payload of course.
Edit: Lol, beaten
Just finished watching and we getting a season two bois!

I am. Noah Hawley's pedigree is good; the budget was there; the visuals were there. I really don't know if I'll watch season two at this point. GTA VI will have been out by then, so maybe I'll play that instead. Are people really surprised? The Alien franchise has been shit since Alien 3.
Its POV would be headache-inducing when its vision is splintered into eight irises. Imagine if it also accidentally ingested some LSD.It was missing an entire episode shown from the perspective of T. Ocellus. Hope we get one next season.
Looks like he made a hat out of his miniature schnauzer. That hair though..

That was, quite possibly, the WORST "season ending" of ANY show I've watched, EVER.
It's so maliciously bad it almost makes me want to burn the stacks of alien movies, comics, books, games, and toys. It has so cucked the xeno that I fear the franchise will NEVER recover. Even Ridley Scott didnt hate the IP as much.
I came in late to the show after having heard about the infamous ending for many years. Lo and behold when I sat down to finally watch it after having binged all seasons and I wasn't disappointed. The only problem was that it was rushed, but it felt like a satisfying conclusing. The episode of the war felt like a movie, incredible production values.Game of Thrones is still worse, they spent years building up an unstoppable threat that they resolved in seconds.
Not watching season 2 if there is one.
Wendy can gurgle all she wants to her pet I fon't care.
I legitimately thought there was another episode next week, until I came here and read that Episode 8 was the season finale. The season ending of A:E didn't feel like an ending. It might just as well have been a mid-season episode.

And at least with that cliffhanger, you knew TNG was coming back for another season.I know they left the show more open than Picard becoming Locutus.

This, far and away, is the #1 reason why TV these days, at least streaming shows not on the usual broadcast cycle of 20 eps, MUST be self-contained stories with a resolution at the end of each season. NOBODY has the damned time or patience to revisit the show 2-3 YEARS later when a new season drops, trying to pick up the momentum from the previous season which is now in the distant past. You only had 3 months to wait. TV now is silly the wait between seasons.
And that wait was looooong. I remember waiting for the next season of Smallville after their awesome finales. I would probably have gone crazy had I been forced to wait over a year lol. And that show had very good special fx for its time, even if it wasn't abundant. And very good writing honestly. You only had 3 months to wait. TV now is silly the wait between seasons.
