I really love the idea of this show. And while I think Alison Brie is super hot, I just cant see her as a wrestler. She isnt much of an actor either.

I think they could have done better.

The "wrestlers" of GLOW were barely trained and most were pretty poor actresses too, most (especially the "Good Girls") were little more than eye candy. There's a reason only one of them (Ivory) really ever made it anywhere in wrestling or acting (although Mountain Fiji made 20 something million in a settlement with the LA Sheriff's department due to a raid they did of her home during a bridal shower, so I guess she didn't need to, and Tiffany Mellon went into porn as Tiffany Million). I could easily see her play the role.
