Am I the only one who hates gambling?

nope OP,
I hate gambling too

1) it makes me feel dirty as fuck and all my instinct alarm bells go off whenever gambling is involved, even if it is super small.

2) I hate casinos and I see it in the faces of the people in casinos that they are not happy but desperate. They have look in their faces that the devil is fucking with them.
And i'm not even religious but I see the evil fucking with these people
Casinos are no fun at all. I only one time and it felt fake, dirty, devil.
You can small the nickel from the coins getting plunked mixes with human sweat.

3) i also hate the peer pressure of people who egg you into making bets; those people are trash.

I’ll visit Biloxi, MS once or twice a year. It’s fun for a night. The bars, live music, drop some dollars on black jack and slots. Go with a girlfriend or a group of people it’s fun

I'm not much of a gambler, though I'll go to a casino roughly once a year

It does make me sick to see people I know betting and losing money I know they can't spare. I even feel kinda sick when I lose $100 on a blackjack table, even though I budgeted to lose it. Definitely feels like lighting money on fire and I get to thinking about what I could've bought with the money if I'd just gone to a store instead.

I haven't done it (yet). However, this one who asked me for $500, I definitely did a double-take and briefly considered it. Easily 11/10.

If you ask me which slot I would put my $500 into in Vegas, it wouldn't be a machine
I've never been with a prostitute and don't intent to be, I've never needed too, to be honest...

but still, even $500 seems like way too much money, man... In Brazil, as far as I know, you can hire top level for R$300, which would be USD $60

People get bored so they bet to see if they make any money.

Won £285 once in my life. Probably wasted more but eh...I don't do anything else and nowadays I can't even do that.

The only time I gamble is something like the world cup or grand national.
Usually only like £10 , not really big into sports so when you have to watch with friends having a little money on the line helps, kinda.

Gambling can be fun if done in moderation but it takes hold of so many people and ruins them.

Absolutely. I certainly enjoy gambling from time to time, but if I were to take an ethical stance on it, I don't think it has any place on the surface of society. Sadly, casinos are built in large part on the dollars of those with a real problem.

sports betting mostly. 15 years ago i hit one of those ridiculous 9 or 10 team parlays, i think it was like 20 to win 14k

No. Its one of those boring pass times that people seem to enjoy and I cant figure out why. I mean, yeah, winning money is great but most people dont.

I don't exactly hate them, but I try to steer clear from gambling. I have a gut feeling if I start, it's gonna be hard to stop. especially that I have a history of easily getting addicted to something.

but one time, there's a raffle (I'm entering it on behalf of my friend) and won a Giant Mimikyu. I was thinking of buying more stuff to enter the raffle again, my friend had to drag me outta the store and talked me out of it. then she said I was twitchy for the rest of the day lmao.

I think of it this way: it’s entertainment that has a chance of being free or having an extra wad of cash in your pocket. Every other form of entertainment that you pay for is always a net negative in your wallet.

I was really into slots in pokemon games, but you could actually win those, so I dunno. I once bought a scratch ticket for a few bucks, then won $20, I used that $20 to buy one each day until it ran out, and I haven't played since. The panchinko machines in Japan are straight up dangerous, so I was careful not to go there (as I would get addicted.)

If you think about it, gambling goes against basic videogame theory. An important rule is "Don't punish a player twice for a single loss". If you lose in Super Mario World, you lose a life and that's that. But if you lose at gambling, you lose the game AND you lose the money you gambled.

What I mean is, it's pretty fucking normal to hate gambling because it appeals to a very specific subset of people. As long as you don't have an addictive personality and you are smart enough to know the odds are stacked against you, you won't enjoy gambling.

It's just another form of escapism.

I used to go to the track once a year with friends, we'd spend a little gambling and a lot eating/drinking and that was enough gambling for the year.

If you're not wired for it it doesn't have much draw. Every time I hear somebody talking about how much they could win I'm thinking, "I could 'win' just as much on the stock market and it wouldn't even be a gamble." Which tells me it isn't really about the money.

I don't hate it I'm just indifferent. It can be fun sometimes due to the adrenaline rush, but that's about it.

I don't gamble, but I love casino games. I own a few machines and sometimes we play no stakes poker. But to me, I just don't get any thrill from it, even if I am winning.

Yeah, not really a fan of betting on things where I have no say in the outcome - unless it's the office March Madness bracket or Super Bowl boxes. The "action" doesn't really do anything for me. I do like playing bar games for money though - like darts or pool.

I like gambling! Last time I was in Vegas, was there 2 full days and slept I think 6 hours total. That was like 15 years ago. I couldn't do that now.
