I actually don't want to share it all because Oda himself said if anybody figures out the ending and what the One Piece is, that he would change it. So on the microscopic chance that I were to somehow guess correctly, that would be troubling for me as a fan
What happened at Raftell / Laughtell is what gives the greatest hint. We know something extraordinary takes place there. But as for the One Piece, there'a no telling what it can be really....

Well, we know Roger laughs when he sees the One Piece, that's already a clue that is something unexpected and silly.
Oda said in an interview that the One Piece it's something physical, not the "One piece were the friends and adventures we made along the way".
But I think he is kind of lying. Yes, the One Piece it's something real and tangible, but it's going to represent the same concept: the never ending longing for adventures and friendship (Luffy demonstrates that when he refuses to hear where is Raftel from Rayleigh or when he destroys the Raftel Log Pose).
The One Piece is the Bink's sake, is the will of D, is the new era of the pirates. What treasure is bigger for a pirate than a good ol' sake and a song to sing with his comrades while they sail into incredible adventures? That's the greater pirate treasure. I want to make a new thread about this but it would be inappropriate with this existing already. So I'm thinking about binging some manga to make all my problems go away and I want to feel like I'm doing the right thing if I go with One Piece again. I was up to chapter 170 or so a year ago.
Should we read the colored or the black and white version;
Now you would think coming in completely blind; "THE COLOR VERSION OBVIOUSLY IS THE DEFINITIVE COMPLETE VERSION". It's the same issue with JoJo. I've read quite a bit of Stardust Crusaders in color with the rest being B&W.
But coming back to it I think it's easy to be fooled by the extra "stimulation" color provides. In reality I am tempted to say it's completely changing what was already there, where tones of grey to black draw your attention to parts of the imagine for example. It's almost like it's adding "details" and removing them at the same time. I am not able to articulate my thoughts on this quite well.
There's also the issue of quality. The color isn't bad... but I imagine it's done with a limit in mind. For example if every page was colored like the cover art of the individual volumes I would be singing praises from the rooftops. Almost as if there's a difference to material made with color in mind.... like extra depth/detail to everything in B&W before color is applied.
Really I don't know what I'm talking about.

the manga is incredible without color. If you aren't going to watch any of the anime episodes I would say you might want to go with the colored version, because Oda does such an amazing job with world building and it would be great to see it completely brought to life with color. I always love the very start of an arc when the new territory is being introduced and explored so that would be the perfect time for the colored versions imo. But it's up to you, I personally just read in black and white and like it that way. but it would be nice to switch it up. I never knew there were colored chapters of One Piece until you let me know in your post lol

btw, if you're at chapter 170 in One Piece, you're at a very good place to pick up again. You're about at the last quarter of the first saga, Alabasta, and the second major saga is very interesting...I would have loved to read that second one instead of watch it. I think with that one, it would have been very interesting and fun to imagine everything happening instead of watching it

Same general formula sure, but you'll be stopping right before the most highly praised point in One Piece if you stop there. The next few arcs after the one you're currently on are phenomenal

My fault homey. Got a coworker who essentially watched everything and read everything at an alarming pace. He started watching in October, and by middle of March he was current with everything. I was seriously impressed. His brother is caught up, he was motivated to watch by him. I was always talking to him about certain characters, plots, theories, current episodes he was on or about to watch so that helped too. He also had a couple other friends who wanted him to watch it all. He's full time student, plus, works, plus games every day so I was surprised that he was able to watch so much. He really picked up pace in January too. By February he was sprinting through it practically. He would watch like 60 episodes a week it seemed easy....Watched during study breaks, on work breaks, even said he'd watch like 10 episodes before bed hahaha. Bro's a madman
Realistically, you could watch it all over the summer if you really wanted to. But I recommend taking your time. There will be times when things are getting so crazy that you just become immersed and before you know it, you've watched like 100+ episodes in a month lol. That happened to me about...four or five times I'd say. But it took me 5 years to catch up
I watched a ton during Feb and March as well, just like my friend. I finished off about 200 or so episodes in a race versus said friend. I would have gone at a more leisure pace if I hadn't known him though. Only reason I raced him because he spoils a lot of stuff. Got a lot of stuff wrong too, I guess his bro was misleading him haha
But yea, watching one episode will be 18-20 min usually if you skip the opening song, the recap, and the preview for next episode and closing song
I just did the math. You would have to spend 310 hours to watch every episode. If you skipped filler, likely around 290 hours of watching One Piece
The anime gets fucking hype. They utilize the OST to perfection a lot of the time. That's why I love it so dearly. And the voice actors are extremely talented. Animation can be sick as fuck at times too. Like recently, Luffy fought, and I was completely shocked at how far he has come. And he's still improving at an alarmingly rapid, ever growing speed. But his power now, it's getting there...to like Dragon Ball Z level where you can hardly believe what you're seeing sometimes. That level

Why was Thriller Bark so short in manga? I never knew that. In the anime, it seemed to be similarly spread out from what I remember...
But I agree. Thriller Bark, too, is a statement arc. I actually rated every single One Piece arc one time, on paper, and I gave Thriller Bark a 9.1/10 — I love how it was horror themed and the last portion of the arc, from the moment all the Straw Hats are battling, to the moment they set off, was excellent. So much that takes place over there in Thriller Bark

I watched a clip of her performing as Chopper during the Drum Island arc. She's one of a kind. Lind of hilarious that she decided to go for that, it was probably a very high offer for her to do that. I can't really imagine such a professional doing hentai VA unless the pay was just extremely high

Donald Duck's mom once made him a nice lunch sandwich with an olive in the toothpick and everything and really was worried about him not eating. Damn bro you need to get past it. Those two are must watches as far as I'm concerned. JoJo is an incredibly creative and well thought out manga and anime especially. The anime is fucking hilarious sometimes. As well as being about as badass as it gets. I still can't forget the first time Joseph Joestar was introduced. Best introduction of all time
At first, I was told to watch One Piece and I had mixed thoughts. So I went to check out an episode of its dub for some strange reason (I knew nothing about anime at the time) and went to episode like 479 or something...And the artwork I noticed was completely not my style and everything was so unusually odd—all the characters were weird to me at the time. But once I gave it a chance like a year later, I didn't even judge it somehow and just watched for a while. And here I am now, probably one of the most thrilled fans. If you give it a chance, the art style will take a backseat in your mind once you realize how immaculately conceived and produced the entire thing is

Sorry I had too much sweat tea vodka and didn't write that out very well. Chopper and Pikachu are the same VA and Nami is a different VA but both those VA's are in an old hentai at the same time.
Another question though, do you think Koala is related to Nami?

Definitely. No doubt at all, I think you'll enjoy it if you give it a chance. Watch a good 5-7 episodes to give it a fair sample of a taste
I have a friend who watched 55-60 episodes but it wasn't entirely his type of anime. Big time anime fan though so he gave it a try. Is thinking of picking back up again. But the thing is, it's not for everyone despite how prolific sales and popularity for One Piece is
But if you do find that you like it, it will gradually build more and more believe it or not every single year. For Example, the current arc, it is so promising, and will have a war so impactful, that I sincerely think a lot of fans will start to think that this arc measures up with the best
Also, if you manage to stick with Luffy and the crew for 25 episodes, there's a legendary fight to witness. One of the Straw Hats essentially faces a foe you can expect to see at the very, very end of One Piece. The level in which said foe is on, it's just fucking asinine, I'll put like that. Utterly insane the level of strength, power, confidence, precision, force, and ability. Easily a top 10-15 strongest character in the entire anime, which is saying a lot since there are certainly many with highly impressive ability in a fight or confrontation. You wont be able to forget what you've seen once it happens, and when it happens, you'll know
