Amd is gonna amd it seems, always making terrible decisions being reactive instead of proactive....instead of actually trying to compete and grow market share they will follow nvidias lead and lap up their table crumbs and gouge customers. I always hope AMD does good but its basically become a farce.

You know they're true.
AMD always operates on a pure frames-per-dollar formula and assume their frames are worth just as much as Nvidia's frames. But every player knows they're not. We all know that in order for AMD to make any progress on market share, they have to provide more frames-per-dollar than Nvidia. That's how it's always been because the overall value of their product is lower than Nvidia's when you match up performance. Every card in the last 15 years that has sold well for them offered a little bit better price-to-performance ratio than their direct competition.
They're looking at Nvidia's lack of stock as an opportunity to charge exactly what we would all expect for this card. And Nvidia is going to come back in two months with the lower tier 5070/5060 cards with some actual stock behind them. They'll undercut AMD and the 9070 will be stuck in this weird middle-ground where it's too expensive for the budget gamers, but not performant enough for the enthusiasts who want ultra settings, high res, and high frame rate. They'll get squeezed into irrelevance yet again.

$699 really doesn't sound very competitive vs the 5070 Ti (likely just shy of 4080 perf at stock clocks) assuming both are eventually available at MSRP-ish when launch demand subsides and supply increases. With e.g. 6700/6800/7800/7900 series they had a VRAM advantage at least, here they just chip away at their feature disadvantage (FSR4, better RT).

Speaking of these threads being dumb so much of the time, there's a lot of people thinking amd has to give the shit away. Nvidia has huge marketshare, but plenty of those owners honestly considered both brands before going with nvidia. They only have to switch cross-shoppers to do a lot better atm. People who won't look at amd would need very, very low prices. To the extent it's possible to win them over, it would have to happen over the longer term after amd earned back some rep.

I would rather pay a couple of extra bucks and get a 40 or 5080 - raster performance likely edges out the 9070 XT, and Nvidia's ML feature set is years ahead anyway, I don't expect FSR 4 to compete with DLSS 4 either. We'll see though.

I made the mistake of thinking those prices were US dollars. But it's canadian.
Converting it, means the RX 9070 XT is at $697 USD and RX 9070 at $586 USD.

I mean AMD did say they weren't chasing high end anymore, and King asshole at Nvidia increased "mid-tier" pricing to $1k.
$500 is arguably overpriced for this and RTX 70 series, but we low end now.

It's unlikely to trade in RT and FSR 4 will be supported in less games and probably is only going to compete with Nvidia's CNN model.

Yeah, all in all a $600-650 card wouldn't be too bad as rumors place it near 4080S in performance so should be around 5070Ti.
And if FSR4, RTC and frames gen performance is decent, that would make it a fairly attractive card. Especially if they actually manage to stock it properly.

With Optiscaler or DLSS Enabler, its possible to use FSR3.1 and XeSS with almost any game. The same will probably happen with FSR4.

They can still start picking up market share with something like that. No way to tell what their goals are there. Their product needs to be competitive in it's own right. Building a rep based on the same performance at half the money doesn't sound like a great move in the long run. A shopper with your attitude will be better left to hang back for some years if/when amd proves they can consistently make competitive stuff. $400? c'mon. At some point you are not worth going after.

What makes me worried is if the 9070 XT ends up costing the same (or more) than the 7900 XT and especially 7900 XTX and has worse performance and has less VRAM.
The 7900 XTX was going for like $820-$850 and the 7900 XT was going for like $650 around Black Friday.
Unfortunately the 7900 XT not 7900 XTX are readily available for purchase, if the 9070 XT ends up falling short of either.

10 years ago consoles were still dropping in price...
Wishful thinking, AMD will not sell those cards at loss and they (most likely) don't have enough units to change market share in any big way. GPUs are priced based on performance and not naming (xx70, xx80 etc.) in recent years so if it's on par with 4080/5070ti it won't be THAT much cheaper.
