Dammit season 1 maid comes back only to be shot. Nnnnooooo
Great episode. So emma roberts is in the whole season.... As a prop lol
I feel like something more has to happen with her. I mean given that the show has crossed every other boundary I'm sure we'll get some necrophilia scene with her. However I feel like she'll come back. Whether from Misty or in some other form. Maybe a ghost/spirit idk.

That council was perfection. I really hope they have a lot more screen time. Also, I hope Madison comes back in some way. I kinda liked her and Zoe being a duo together.

Frances Conroy is a series regular, so while she's not around in the beginning I expect her role is going to be expanded as we go further since her and Fiona have some obvious history.

The other two are guest stars, but they will be featured I guess.

Something else I just noticed also....

The doctor in Asylum who treats Jude towards the end of the season is Dr. Miranda Crump.

She plays the other member of the council, Cicely Pembroke.

I thought that was a nice touch.

I'm dreading Cordelia's acid face next week. In the promo Fiona's expression in her reaction is preparing me for the worst.

I wonder, *assuming* Frances did it, will it be a temporary "spell" to get Fiona to admit the murder to Cordelia in guilt? Cuz if permanent...christ.

With her being named Cordelia though, I'm certain it won't be anything easy or happy for her in the end. :(

From the sounds of it,
Madison's just straight up dead, but her corpse will be in pretty much every episode. Really sucks, I loved her character the most this season.

I really hope Kyle learns how to actually communicate soon, or this Frankenstein love story will just be really uncomfortable.

I watched much of season one but lost interest before it ended. I skipped Season two and just caught up with this new season. I love the setting. New Orleans is a great setting for the setting.
Since catching up, I felt like I should give S2 a chance. Well....... It's really nuts. And not in a good way. I'm 4 episodes into Season 2 right now and it's too chaotic. An Asylum is another good choice for a story, but I don't feel like it's handled well. Aliens and the introduction of Anne Frank, are really bizarre story arcs. Season 3 is much more consistent. More consistent than even Season 1 so far. A lot has happened so far, but it's well paced and the writers have to remember this to keep the show up. I just hope they don't let it spiral out of control like Season 1 and 2.

The only thing that bothers me are the zombies. In New Orleans, no one is buried underground. Because of the tropic storms and humidity, dead bodies buried under ground would surface. So they made family tombs that fit two people. In the summers the tombs would cremate the bodies due to the insane temperatures. They would then push the ashes to the back of the tomb and place a new body in. It saves space and prevents zombies from arising. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Wouldn't she just turn into a zombie? I don't see any reason why Laveau's power would be limited to the grave site.

And I have to echo what has been said a few times already (I fucking hate stupid people in smart shows) but Zoe is the dumbest dumbo dummy i've ever fuckin seen on TV. It's like all these people live in a capsule where common knowledge is just fuckin completely absent. Her stupid facial expressions and terrible acting do not help the godawful plotline the show has her one right now.
"Oh my god we are witches we killed all those boys but we're so sorry please don't get us in trouble!!!??"
"Oh my god I miss this boy i met for one night so bad... i want to bring him back soooo bad! Lets make a fucking FRANKENSTEIN monster out of him. Surely nothing bad will come of this!!"
"Oh Shit! His wounds are ... like almost totally healed! Still can't talk or think or stand on his own but.. ya know what? FUCK IT! Droppin you off at your moms K? I got fucking Social Studies at 1."
"Oh snap the crazy monster I created is fuckin out of his gord and killed his mom! I KNOW! I'll feed him rat poison! Surely that will work on a magically summoned FLESH BEAST... woops left the door unlocked. Party Foul."

Just kill this dumb fuck already.

I lost it. Freaking hilarious.

Don't get all the Zoe hate. The scene where she blurted out all that shit to the police or whatever was pretty stupid, but other than that she's ok. Also, they can't kill her off when she's the next supreme ;]

Zoe is a character that makes constant stupid decisions. Her entire storyline is just boring and lacks real motivation. Eppy pretty much covers her decisions. I think I really hate this character from her sheer stupidity. I mean Joffrey levels of hate. Maybe they can turn it around, I doubt it. They should devote the screen time to others.

Laveau has keepsakes from those she raises.
If you look during the flash back, a piece of a civil war uniform, a bit of hair, and in the case of the daughters the nooses that they were hung with.
It is not random dead or all of the dead that she brings.
Voodoo/hoodoo relies on having something tied to the victim.

Many of the cemetaries, not all of them.
The St Louis #1 is the one that most people think of, one of the above ground ones and one of the ones you see on many tours and movies. (and where Laveau is buried)

The Zoe/Kyle storyline feels like one of those terrible tangential True Blood subplots that eventually makes its way back to the main plot but never really adds anything of value to the season.

I'm sure Murphy and Falchuk will fold it back into everything else at some point - mainly because I suspect Misty will play a central role in the climax of the season - but I don't know if it will ever fully redeem itself. It just sucks.

Oh wow, I didn't realize this. That makes a ton of sense now.

See, I'm all for the spiraling out of control. They aren't writing literature, and when it gets super crazy there's the sense that they know it. I get to revel in the insanity because I feel like that was the intention all along.

This season isn't self-aware enough, and it's ruining what made the writing work for me over the past two seasons. It's no longer, "Yeah, we know, wink," it's more, "You think this drama is fucking intense, right?!"

I like the laugh at myself when I'm watching shows like this.

Asylum got too batshit by the end. I liked it prior to all the aliens and stpid kind of stuff that took over.

I wasn't fond of the alien stuff, but I thought Asylum ended incredibly strong.

I thought the ending to the Jude storyline was downright moving. I didn't think this show was capable of stuff like that.

Agreed and even the silly stuff like the aliens was well enough executeed that it never bordered on being overly serious. I liked now chaotic and ridiculous S2 got. The
musical number
being a highlight. It never felt as random as S1.

Preview for tomorrow/tonight's episode

As I've come to expect, this week's episode of American Horror Story is shocking and revealing. I keep waiting for an episode to be dull or boring, and I'm pleased to report that the fifth episode continued to keep me on the edge of my seat. An unlikely hero saves the residents of Robichaux's from Marie's onslaught of the undead. We find out the fate of poor Cordelia, as well as the fate of the supposed culprit behind the caustic incident. Fiona stays by her daughter's side, until Hank shows up that is. Hank's appearance causes a very interesting and painful reaction from Cordelia. We learn of some more unspeakable acts that Delphine has committed, but she does show tremendous growth this episode. Splading is still up to his usual bizarre antics, but his abnormal behavior with Madison's corpse leads to a an appalling outcome. Misty makes an appearance this week, while Kyle is still missing in action. A witch is burned at the stake, and you'll be very surprised as to who and why. Coven continues to impress me on every level, and I promise you this episode won't disappoint you.

Happy to see there won't be Zoe x Kyle in this episode.

Goddamn it sounds amazing.
I hope Fiona annihilates hank.

Ohh it could be him.

Also, I'm going to a restaurant that plays the show, which in retrospect I guarantee it'll be a bad time since people will be talking all the damn time.

Not their fault. Some people don't want to go for AHS.

So Jessica Lange is out after next season apparently? I hope they grab someone great to replace her. Glenn Close maybe?

Or pull the ultimate coup and somehow convince Meryl Streep to do a season of television. I can dream.

If they can keep Kathy Bates around for a few seasons, that would be swell.

I think it would be a mistake to try and recreate the Lange magic by signing on another aging Oscar winning actress to try and anchor the series. They need to think of a radically different approach.

Not anyone could recreate the magic, but Bates sure as hell can.

She's so incredibly good in twisted shit like this. Always has been.

I would literally DIE if Meryl Streep signed on to ahs

I think you're actually very wrong about that. Bates is amazing. Glenn Close is phenomenal. Meryl is obviously the best, but that would never happen. There are plenty of other actresses that might be willing to sign on at this point in the show's life who are just as good as Lange, if not better. While she's been pretty great, she's far from perfect. I wouldn't put her on any kind of untouchable pedestal.

Oh, and I agree that Connie Britton needs to come back if Nashville goes away.

Yep. But I personally don't see the need to replace Lange with another aging Oscar winning actress. And why are we all suggesting older white women as replacements? What about Whoopi Goldberg or Rita Moreno or Shohreh Aghdashloo? What about a younger talent? A Kiernan Shipka type or something? Why not cast a man instead? Why does there even need to be a replacement?

While she's been pretty great, she's far from perfect. I wouldn't put her on any kind of untouchable pedestal.

No, I agree, which is why I think this whole "OMG find a new Lange!!" thing is so misguided. There's no need to try and replicate her. She's good, but it's not like she's an essential ingredient that would leave the show spiraling into shit should she decide to leave.
