Grass.

It reminds me of the kind of stuff the angry kids in middle school classrooms would draw when bored. Might be worth a play

What the hell?? it looks like a terrorist attack/end of the world sim with bright cartoony graphics...

twisted, but i guess it might be fun in a perverse way :P

I knew Kozyndan were working on the concept art, but I never expected the actual game to look like a huge living version of their work. It looks awesome!

Edit: Oops, you're right. The art I linked to was shown in American's announcement of their pairing, but was from WOTM, not Bad Day! I was wondering why it looked so similar. And why it was named WOTM.jpg. :(

The original concept art, for those who missed it at the time:

isnt that War of the Monsters?

Dan told me they'd be showing it at E3, the working title is Bad Day LA.

Apparently they're still working out the graphical look of the game.

In Bad Day L.A., players are thrust behind the shopping cart of a homeless man turned city-saving crusader, Anthony Williams, a reluctant hero who left behind the privileged life of a successful Hollywood agent after losing his self-respect. Anthony survives in his cocoon of destitution and isolation until Los Angeles comes under attack from zombies, terrorists, earthquakes and other untold disasters. Facing complete annihilation, Anthony is reluctantly forced to begin a cynical quest for salvation. Using only his street smarts and the environment to stay alive, he must save the very city and its citizens he despises, and, in the end, escape what has become a very Bad Day in L.A.

FEATURES

• A deep and comedic storyline that plays off the "fear culture" of modern America will satirize Los Angeles and disaster films as well as provide a wide variety of challenges and mission scenarios
• Super-flat graphical art style developed by "Kozyndan," a highly acclaimed LA-based art team, will give the game an unmistakable and totally unique look and feel
• Ten expansive game levels based on real-world Los Angeles neighborhoods, including Hollywood Boulevard, Venice Beach and Beverly Hills, will provide gamers with unique challenges and opportunities for combat that vary throughout the course of the game
• An eclectic arsenal of both everyday and bizarre weaponry will allow the player to fight on with hard-hitting and sometimes humorous effects
• Easy-to-learn, hard-to-master combat system will offer instant accessibility while demanding the player use street smarts and creativity to face down and defeat a potpourri of enemies, both human and otherwise
• Advanced artificial intelligence (AI) system will feature non-player characters (NPCs) that experience a range of emotion such as rage, distress, terror and chemical influence

Yuck.

Is this the future of video games?

Count me the fuck out.

I'm going back to playing my SNES and Dreamcast.

I wouldn't say this is the future of art in video games, but you can bet your ass you're gonna see a lot of GTA clones next gen.

This ranks up there with 'Road to Sunday' on Today's "WTF?!?! METER"

LMAO! Am I the only one who laughed like a maniac at the screens? He's injuring some old people just to get a 'sick boy' to an ambulance. :lol

Aren't they zombies like the blurb talked about? At least I think they are; bent-neck shuffling ala Romero and all.

Who is American McGee again?

Tokay from Quake/Id Software team
Lead Designer of Alice
Tacked on to Scrapland late in development to give it a marketing push, even though American Mcgee means nothing to anyone.

What? Don't you know he's one of the "New Gaming Gods"! That is what some PC gaming magazine said and they don't make that kind of shit up. His special game designer powers allows him to take already established IP or ideas and add a "goth EDGE" (EDGE must be captiolized cause it's a power word... or something) to it. Which instantly makes it a million times cooler and him a million times cooler than that. Oh and apparently creative as hell.

Oh yeah, he's the genius who thought, "Hey, lemme make Alice in Wonderland all gothy and fucked up and shit!" right?

And yet, people fell for it. Sad...

At first, when I looked at the screens, I thought this was a joke.
But after reading the interview on gamespot, I think this could be really awesome. guess we'll see at E3.

Fell for it?

Well I played it and enjoyed it a lot if that's what you mean.

The only sad thing here is your comments dude.

I thought American Mcgee's Alice was close to the original source material? Alice in Wonderland by Disney was not the original Alice in Wonderland.

Whatever happened to that Oz game? The figures based on the game came out a while ago.

Well after Alice, MOST, game publishers wised up that game design isn't McGee's strong point as much as just... gothing shit up and talking high concept.

The Disney adaptation was far closer to the book than McGee's game. McGee's game basically did what was mentioned above - took characters and scenes and put a gothic spin on them.

Although many dismiss them as children's books, Alice in Wonderland and its companion, Through the Looking Glass, are really fun reads. Go read them! :D

In story maybe.. but the atmosphere and dark gothic undertones in the game are much closer to the style of the book than any happy fluffy spin that Disney has added. imo.

Screw the haters. Bad Day LA looks hilarious. It's been said before, it has a Threat Advisory meter. This game is going to be rife with parody. Hopefully it'll poke fun at GTA as well.
