Is Red Bull seriously trying to tank the team? What in the name of fuck are they even thinking!? If you want to sell then sell, don't put us and the team through this shit.

Nah I think they're legitimately trying and it's painful to watch.

This is what our lineup looks like with Kljestan and the two CBs were supposed to sign:

------------------BWP
-----------------Felipe
Zizzo------------------------------Sam
--------Klejstan--McCarty

Miller---Zubar--Jean-Bastiste---Duvall

---------------Robles

It leaves a lot to be desired but not horrendous. Dat backline...

- ESPNFC: Gedion Zelalem currently ineligible but United States seeking FIFA exception
Zelalem is a naturalized American citizen, as opposed to becoming one through lineage or birthright. His parents and his grandparents were also born overseas, meaning he's subject to a little-known stipulation in FIFA's statutes that would require him to live in the U.S. for five years from Jan. 26, his 18th birthday, before suiting up for the Yanks in official matches.
U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati doesn't seem worried.

"We're going through the FIFA process and hope to have Gedion eligible by March or April," said Gulati, who also sits on FIFA's executive committee, told ESPN FC on Monday. "We don't expect any issues."

For now, though, Zelalem can't play for the U.S., and his eligibility isn't quite the forgone conclusion it originally appeared to be.

What's wrong with Felipe? He's a decent MLS player. Although he plays a different position he isn't that much older than Oyongo.

Oyongo was panning out to be a stud.

Alexander had a great partnership with Dax, BFFs off the field, second in assists last season

I thought we got Stolz to back up Peguy in CAM role

So it's not that Felipe is bad, we just gave up too much. Now if we get Kljestan that's a little better but still. Let's ruin all the chemistry we had last season. Just cuz.

Well, at least now you guys can really position yourself as the Mets of MLS. What if you had become the Yankees of MLS? You've got enough problems, you don't need to turn into douchebags.

So, improbably, we'll win a couple of MLS Cups with a lovable squad of rogues and ner-do-wells?

If this was true, we'd have won in 2008. Let's not forget the Mets won a World Series their 7th year of existence.

How do people not notice that we've been the Mets for a long time now?

High payroll, jack shit.

Now we're just transitioning into post-Madoff Mets. Like the Mets all we wanna do is BELIEVE

We've never had a Yankees until now, now that Parent Company's Subsidy is here we can truly take our place as the Mets of MLS.

NY Red Bulls almost signed Kaka in 2012.

http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/2015/01/27/kaka-orlando-city-mls

"Truth be told, Kaká said he has long wanted to join MLS. There were talks with the LA Galaxy a few years ago, and the heads of New York Red Bulls fans might explode when they realize how nearly he came to joining his brother (playing name: Digão) on the team three years ago.

“With Red Bull it was very close,” Kaká told SI.com. “In July 2012, they went to Madrid and made an offer to Real Madrid, and Real Madrid said OK. I said OK as well. But we just had two days to close the deal, and in two days it was impossible, because there were a lot of contracts and things to see, and the window closed. I said maybe in December we can start to talk again. So in December I started to play for Real Madrid, and Real Madrid didn’t want to sell in that moment. I waited until the next market, and in the next market I went to Milan. So Milan and then São Paulo, and the moment arrives now [in Orlando].”

Interesting that Miguel Ibarra didn't move to an MLS club but still keeps getting a look from Jurgen and co. Good for him. Quite a few who might get their first cap(s).

How come Zelalem isn't in the mix?

He needs a FIFA exemption to play for us, unless he wants to come to MLS for the next 5 years. Considering he's lived here for 7 when he was a kid he's gonna get it, we just can play him until then.

Hyndman is possibly hurt (shoulder injury) and he's due back in Fulham after being gone with the U20's for a while. Rubin has club responsibilities.

what about Hyndman? Is it cause of his u-20 duties?

Edit:Rubin too.

This is a January Camp, that's generally only for guys from the US and Scandinavia. Plus Bobby Wood because he's persona non grata at 1860 Munich, which is why he's the only exception on that roster. Anyone else from a European league on a winter schedule (Rubin, Hyndman, Zelalem) would be a bad sign...

1. Emerson Hyndman
2. Rubio Rubin
3. Julian Green
4. Gedion Zelalem
5. Cameron Carter-Vickers
6. Tommy Thompson
7. Zack Steffen
8. Junior Flores
9. Paul Arriola
10. Christian Pulisic

I'd rank them
1. Hyndman
2. Rubin
3. Zelalem
4. Carter-Vickers
5. Pulisic
6. Green
7. Akale
8. Steffen
9. Acosta
10. Wright

Actually if I had to pick just one guy it would be Christian Pulisic, but age-related uncertainty drops him down.

When was the last time Arena and the Galaxy got so embarrassingly outmaneuvered... how much did they give up for Kljestan, Opare, Sarvas, and a draft pick?
