Nah I think they're legitimately trying and it's painful to watch.
This is what our lineup looks like with Kljestan and the two CBs were supposed to sign:

yeah i dont think they would've put much effort into him if they knew it wasn't going to work. Interesting FIFA rule that I had no idea about. I assume it's there to avoid countries handing citizenship like candy to people who've never even been to whatever country that would do that.

What's wrong with Felipe? He's a decent MLS player. Although he plays a different position he isn't that much older than Oyongo.
He lived in the US far longer than 5 years when he was younger, I see no reason for FIFA not to make an exemption.
Oyongo was panning out to be a stud.

So it's not that Felipe is bad, we just gave up too much. Now if we get Kljestan that's a little better but still. Let's ruin all the chemistry we had last season. Just cuz.

Well, at least now you guys can really position yourself as the Mets of MLS. What if you had become the Yankees of MLS? You've got enough problems, you don't need to turn into douchebags.

hopefully we defer someone's contract 10 years down the line and pay him in yearly installments for 25 years.
We've never had a Yankees until now, now that Parent Company's Subsidy is here we can truly take our place as the Mets of MLS.

He's not technically FIFA approved yet and the assumption was that they were going to wait until a little later this year to get him involved. He's also very young and raw, so it's unclear how useful he'll be at this point. He had a European youth game for Arsenal yesterday,as well.
He needs a FIFA exemption to play for us, unless he wants to come to MLS for the next 5 years. Considering he's lived here for 7 when he was a kid he's gonna get it, we just can play him until then.

Hyndman is possibly hurt (shoulder injury) and he's due back in Fulham after being gone with the U20's for a while. Rubin has club responsibilities.
This is a January Camp, that's generally only for guys from the US and Scandinavia. Plus Bobby Wood because he's persona non grata at 1860 Munich, which is why he's the only exception on that roster. Anyone else from a European league on a winter schedule (Rubin, Hyndman, Zelalem) would be a bad sign...
