I have to say it's been a rough month being a Dallas sports fan. I really wanted that supporters shield, but congrats to NY.

Edit: and that's not me downplaying all of FCD's hard work this season, they've been AMAZING.

Seriously that's more disrespectful than what TFC fans did. Absolutely disgusting.

tbh I had no clue, I couldn't see the signs from where I was standing

it's all good and fun though. Before the game a couple of lost Toronto fans ended up in the middle of the ultras, there was no trouble but they were escorted by some anti-toronto chants, it was pretty funny

YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to the SKC game last night. Did not go into it supremely confident but we managed the win. We didn't look great in the midfield. The team just feels a little "off" to me. Happy to be in the playoffs but I'm going to be nervous about every round, especially after giving up so many losses towards the season's end. Went from being a real Supporter's Shield contender to barely making the playoffs. They're making me nervous too often.

Here's hoping we click soon.

7th place. For my first year doing fantasy, that's not too bad. I could have placed higher if I remembered to make some changes that I forgot about. Oh well. Next year.

I'm so freaking happy about this. There's still a lot to do but given that Sak is out, we have an academy, Bethlehem Steel is going to be a thing in USL, Sak is out, there's money now.

A good announcement after a shitty season.

Who's going to win the cup, m8s?

I think Dallas or even Columbus.

Also not counting out Montreal just because of Drogba.

Ended in 2nd place! Pretty happy with that, first time playing MLS fantasy.

I was falling into 3rd but I made a whole bunch of changes during that 100% transfer week a few weeks ago and those choices (Drogba :D) kept me in 2nd. No chance getting 1st tho.

Ahhh.......thanks guys, it's amazing. Should I make it my avatar?

Do it.

Congrats Vulture! Very pleased with top 5 -- next season should be fun as always.

What does GAF think about Kreis getting the boot in favor of Patrick Vieira? Some rumors in the past few days that Arsenal are going to try and get him back, so I wonder if this will hasten the move to let him try and coach at NYC to get his feet wet.

I was not an MLS follower until last season -- I started to get more interested as a preparation for Orlando and NYC to start play. All season, Kreis' body language and sideline attitude has never really struck me as the kind that City would like (it's very brooding and Mourinho-esque), so in that regard, I can see why they might opt to just move on from him. On the other hand, I've heard he apparently had a similar vibe at RSL so it isn't necessarily a sign of him being unhappy.. it's just how he is. But if City feel Vieira is a long term option as their coach at MCFC, they should probably be decisive and give him a shot at NYC rather than lose him. Kreis will obviously have plenty of suitors so it would be a net positive for everyone to be honest.

I think Kreis is a good MLS coach. As noted earlier today in this article, it's difficult to make the playoffs as an expansion side. You can throw money at DPs, but ultimately, it's the guys in the trenches that will put you over the top, and it is tough to assemble a capable team within a year.

There's also a very, very short list of coaches with no MLS previous experience (as a player or preferably as a coach) that have been successful in the league. Dealing with the salary cap, traveling across country for matches, free agency, the draft, etc... is a lot to take in, and it's unlikely that Vieira will be more successful in this than Kreis was.

If it was up to me, I'd give Kreis at least another year to continue what he's doing, but I get the feeling that NYCFC/City want him out ASAP. He'll probably end up elsewhere in the league quickly as he's in demand as a coaching candidate.

Bringing in Vieira to temper him before giving him the managerial spot at MCFC doesn't seem like a very smart idea for either club.

Well, the reality is that he's only going to be willing to remain the coach of the U21 side for so long and City want Pep next so it won't be any time soon most likely that Vieira will get a chance to coach professionally. Patrick is more of a long term option that they've been grooming.

Txiki and Ferran did give Pep the job at Barcelona after only coaching Barca B before that though so there so there is a possibility that they could give Vieira the gig after Pellegrini without him having coached before if Pep stays at Bayern or goes elsewhere, but Barca B were at least a pro team so Pep and Vieira's experience isn't quite at the same level. They've invested a lot of time and money into him, and if he leaves to work under Wenger as an assistant for the next few years, then a lot of that prep work has been for naught. I think this will certainly weigh on their decision.

If that is the case (that they want him out), I have a feeling it's down to the perception I got of him on the sideline. I don't think it's a good look and obviously that's something that is important to the club especially early on. Mancini was fired primarily because he was not a good steward for the club and his negativity had grown to be toxic.

Kreis had success with RSL, and taking an expansion team to the playoffs has not panned out well for any club in MLS history, but I really did not care for his tactics or decision making at all the entire season.

One of the massive problems for the club was a severe lack of synergy and after Kreis comments about players not being committed to the club and then patting himself on the back in his commitment is not at all conducive for uniting the club.

Vieira would help lift the team, and give a reprieve to the DP's lack of confidence in the club.
