It is kinda scary when you think about what's going on now and what tohn jitor said 4 years ago...

even more scary: the red states win

the country is getting more and more divided, and it's clear that with these last elections -- it's starting to reach its boiling point

Real disruptions in world events begin with the destabilization of the West as a result of degrading US foreign policy and consistency. This becomes apparent around 2004 as civil unrest develops near the next presidential election.

No need for war, the rednecks will just end up killing themselves through inbreeding. Just wait a little longer.

edit - whoops, I didn't know "it" was an offense, I've seen it referenced numerous times in the recent past. Sorry, and nevermind..:)

Anyone have a link to all the Titor stuff? I just wanna see how accurate he's been up to now..

I think T---- might be a bannable offense now, so I dunno if I can help you out.

In any case, the answer is "As accurate as you want to believe." People who really want to believe will see what he says as being accurate; skeptics will say it's too vague.

Google's your friend, but the most likely explanation of the entire thing is that it was a hoax driven by a very bored, but obviously very smart individual with a very deep background in physics.

what? you actually think a second civil war would be fought and won with guns?

I work in a biological lab and have access to all kinds of nasty things: poisons/toxic chemicals, bacteria, viruses, radiation. We could generate so many toxic clouds, taint so much of the water supply, etc...

we could be quite the terrorists if we wanted to.. heck we could out-terrorize bin Laden in a heart beat.

You don't want to get into a war on this soil. We have much more creative ways of incapacitating/killing others right now. NO ONE will be safe.

I think people should be a little more cautious about throwing this concept around. There is still much that can be accomplished with discourse and compromise.

And it doesn't help having such prejudiced views about the people on the other side of the political spectrum. Take a look at the election results again, you think slandering the other side is actually going to persuade an aware majority to your side? Conservatives DON'T have to concede to anything right now in there minds, pressuring them is not going to win them over.

i am sure bin laden would probably be laughing his ass off if he heard that people in the US were talking about civil war even if as a joke. it is kind of scary because it shows bin laden's actions have knocked people's confidence so much.

FWIW, Titor's stuff was all posted in 2000 / early 2001, before Bin Laden was on most people's radar, so I'm not sure that OBL was necessarily a factor in Titor's postings. (In fact, I'd argue that JT's 'theories' are actually very 9/10, despite what his adherents might claim :p.)

...you know, I'm not really sure why I always end up in these discussions, but oh well :p

American Revolution was technically a Civil War, btw.

To clarify on the civilian military. The US actually hires civilian military. They are called "Contractors." They've been in every war the US has been a part of. They help the US military for a number of things, even rescuing US soldiers if they are close by. "Contractors" are very important to the US military, and right now their numbers are on the decline.

I understand WHY some Americans would feel that a civil war is appropriate, but of course I don't agree with it.

Perhaps they feel like their view is not being represented...and that they will always get the short end of the stick.

This has to do more with the incompetence of the Democrats as being a voice of opposition in the government, more than anything.

It seems like you have to be in power to have things your way, when in a democracy things should be a bit more give and take than that so that all sides have some input.

This ties into the Van Gogh post...because people feel like resorting to violence because they see it as the only alternative or way for their side to be shown/established. In a democracy all people can and should be represented within government, and when that occurs the "need' for violence will cease to exist.

The fact that the Dems didn't do a good job during the last 4 years...maybe got people hoping that once they are in power things would go their way since they have the actual power to make things happen. *shrugs*
