I think I'mma leave my amiibos in the box, so I can't even tell if I have a drunk Samus or not.

I don't think any stores even know when they will be able to restock anything. Every store I spoke to seems to be in the dark.

I keep forgetting that amiibos won't end with the Smash Bros lineup. It's already becoming impossible to afford to complete the Smash Bros lineup. There's no way I will be able to collect every future release for other games once they get that going. I may just go back to getting only the ones I want instead of trying to collect them all at this point. Problem is, I've gotten this far for this lineup. I might as well try to complete as much as I can lol. @_@

It helps once you do the math. 50 amiibos, at $13 a piece...that's $650. And that's not even counting variants or whatever else they have up their sleeves.

Worth posting again

So I walked into Best Buy as my last stop for today and they had Diddy Kong, Little Mac and Zelda sitting on the bottom shelf. I quickly grabbed them and went to the register. Of course both did not scan in the system and the manager was on his way over. I knew where this was going, so after looking it up they're telling me Diddy Kong is a Wednesday 12/17 release and Little Mac is a Friday 12/19 release. She told me that they would hold them in the office with my name on it so I can get both on friday but I'm not holding my breath. She did say however they only had 2 Little Mac and 3 Diddys.

So close but yet so far.

So I expend the last hour updating and adding the new info that was available today and reading through all your posts x), I also added a few Info and Observations for frequent questions, hope it helps and feel free to tag it and share with friends who may need it.

Gotta find that Shiny Pikachu!

I'm heading out today, I have a hunch that Wal-Mart may be releasing Wave 1 today or tomorrow, gotta check. As always if someone wants me to change something or has more news for fellom AmiiboGAFers, quote me to add it!

Got the last Fox at my TRU last night. They only had 2 Samus left. Tons of Zelda, and all other Wave 1 figures in bountiful supply aside from the obvious 3 that shall not be named.

What is everyone's gameplan on their online orders of Amiibo's? I, for one, am planning on going to the store on release day to grab them, and then if my online orders have not shipped, canceling them, and if they have shipped, returning the extra.

What's your plan?

I wouldn't return them you may be able to put your kids through college with them. lol

So what Amiibos come out this week? Best Buy says Luigi is 12/30 now.
I assume Diddy Kong, Little Mac, and Zelda.
Edit: Samus is rare now? Guess I will be heading to Best Buy to pick up the last one then. I guess the lesson is to not wait for these.

It's funny seeing some of these be rare in the U.S. while in Canada we have a ton.

Stock of Zelda is plentiful at almost every store here, also, if Mario or Samus has started to become rare, that's definitely not the case here, they're stocked pretty plentifully at every store selling Amiibo. Kirby however seems to be starting to dwindle fast, few and far between do you find a store here with them.

I hate myself and I hate all of you. 0 to 10 in under 48 hours. My Samus is sober and Link's blade is true.

Off to dream of a world where Wii Fit Trainer was in my arms, Wave 2 had a simple release date that all retailers observed and supply issues and scalpers didn't exist.

If this was the case, would you even have started collecting them in the first place though? I wouldn't, I'm collecting them since they do seem limited and a possibly valuable collectable. I had no interest in WFT or really Marth, but now I want them both badly.

Got excited to see the Rosalina & Luma page open. Just waiting on pre-orders for her...

Anyway, my collection.

And then the lot of them with my Disney Infinity collection...

I've been trying to figure out where to put my growing collection of Amiibos and I think I might end up just clustering them like this.

Also, Disney Infinity figures look great.

How are you going to display them when there are 50 of them? :P

Mwhaha yes collect them all!

Honestly have no interest in any fire emblem or wii fit trainer characters.

The villager I'm Mildy interested in and wonder why they would short ship him doesn't animal crossing sell better than Kirby star doc and metroid?

They do. Baymax seems to slowly be disappearing so I think I may pick it up before it goes out of print, it's really an amazing figure.

Actually, thinking about it, I honestly believe Disney Infinity figures look better on the whole than Amiibo's, but a lot of that has to do with the silly colours of plastic Nintendo used to prop up legs and stuff in this first wave (and how many defective units seem to be out there.)

why is the implementation of these in smash so basic? my 7 year old niece is constantly annoyed that she can't take them into any mode other than 4/8p smash.

you can't battle your amiibo against someone else's online. this seems natural.
you can't coop the any of the other game modes with your amiibo. this seems natural.

these things are so half-assedly realized in terms of games.

You just want the amiibos to do the jobs for them?

I agree, though, to partially defend Nintendo, I fully expect all Amiibos post-Smash to look dramatically better. These figures were designed around pre-existing Smash character-models/poses. Future Amiibos will presumably be designed from the ground as Amiibos.

I'm not complaining though. I've been begging for plastic representations of Smash trophies since Melee. I would have been annoyed if they hadn't made these. And I will eagerly buy additional Amibos based on my favorite characters as they make them.

I knew from the start I would buy Link, Zelda, Mario, Peach, Fox, Samus and Rosalina no matter what. (Ness and Charizard, too.) I want WFT because I like using female characters in games and will probably buy all female humanoid amiibo (except Animal Crossing). I just didn't expect it to get this bad this quickly. I fooled myself into thinking Nintendo would have a decent supply of each one through the end of the year at least. I didn't think there would be any rare figures until Wave 4 or beyond, once the dust settled.

I'll probably start hanging them on the wall like I used to do with my baseball cap collection :P

I stayed away from Infinity and Skylanders for the longest time because I know how I get with stuff like this. Well, last weekend I went to Walmart to see what the amiibo situation looked like... long story short, they didn't have the amiibos I was looking for and I ended up buying 2 Baymax figures and a Hiro figure, haha.

I'm tempted to get Venom and the Guardians of the Galaxy too before something replaces them, but I don't know anything about Disney Infinity print runs.

Should I switch my Best Buy Ike order over to Gamestop? It's already too late for Pit, but hearing so many of the stories here scares me for orders at Best Buy :-/

I just switched my Toon Link and Megaman from Amazon to Gamestop after hearing about all these issues.

I'm still thinking over the Ike one, like I'm kinda legit tripping seeing how Best Buy is always behind everyone else on releasing these things and even when I read that Best Buy sold off someones preorder. I've had great experiences with what I preordered at Gamestop as well, but my Best Buy Preorder was pretty much gonna be paid for with rewardzone coupons lol, it's the only reason my Ike is still ordered there.

Went by Gamestop on my lunch break and put $5 down on both Mega Man and Shulk. Was worried about pre-ordering Shulk as they stopped online pre-orders, but in-store is still a go.

I'm in the same boat. I would keep your Best Buy pre-orders, and then go to store on release day to try to snag them.... Then you can decide what to do what your second amiibo, or what not.

I'm keeping Falcon there for now, and just heading to TRU the morning it comes out if I can. Then I'll cancel my Falcon at BB unless they're rare, then I'll pick it up if it ever becomes available. My fear is that supplies won't come in for BB.

I just ordered two of each of the next wave from Amazon.ca. Hoping it works out better than those who ordered from .com.

kind of want a dual wielding Marth since it looks so cool...hope more people that find him like him for that reason and not just because it's easier to scalp with

Normally I'd agree with this but if a weird $13 toy can pay off my student loans, I know what my priorities are.

I haven't had any issues with Best Buy, other than some of the amiibo they picked for me had dumb faces when I did in-store pickup. It's where I got my Wave 1 in its entirety, including Marth, WFT, and Villager (all from preorders), and where I have Wave 2 and Wave 3 amiibo locked down. Since Wave 1, I've started to preorder multiples of each to ensure I get ones that are fit for my collection with plans to return the rest.
Those plans may have changed now that insanity has ensued, though...
It's what I did with a couple of Wave 1 amiibo after launch. Costs a bit extra up front, but I do get my money back a few days later for the ones I have returned. Seems like a solid plan so far, and again, Best Buy has never majorly fudged things up for me. I wouldn't fear them too majorly yet... plus, dat GCU!

Wait, so you can get free international shipping if you meet the price requirement in one order?

No, I had to pay international shipping still. I'm just saying the cost for ordering more than 1 doesn't go up that much. I paid a total of 68.72 USD after conversion and fee. In euro it was 37,80 for the 3 and 15,39 for shipping, so 46.94 for the figures and 19.11 to have them shipped here with cheapest option.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo is terrified of using them too much and pissing people off... so they end up having half-uses.

no, I think they're underbaked because it was a concept bolted on later in life.

being able to coop your amiibo in various offline modes, which my 7 year old niece just naturally automatically thought she could do, wouldn't affect anyone. having some more interesting modes utilizing amiibo also woudln't negatively affect anyone. an online battlebots type match where you battle your amiibos against eachother -- along with more customization of your amiibos in terms of behavior and powers -- would be a great idea.

the problem is Nintendo was too lazy or inept to make proper use of them. Considering it's the flagship amiibo game, I find this pretty strange and I don't get why Nintendo is pretty much getting away with this without being called on it.

Ahhh okay I get you :)

Welp.....yup. got a Marth from Amazon.de 35 all together. Not that bad considering that they got for 80 here in the states. Now it's time for the waiting game.

I don't even want to think about how much I've spent on these figures so far. v_v

The worst part is that I don't even have a display for them yet. Can't find any nice looking one in stores.

Any suggestion?

Post pictures of your collection if you want too. :)

We have called them out on them not doing enough, though. I agree that Amiibo should be usable in more than they are in Smash. They are underbaked, I have described their use as "a pet rock" in Smash. I think adding in their functionality online and in other places would be great.

But, on the flip side, you have people who are very much against Amiibo doing ANYTHING noteworthy. And you have people who want Amiibo to unlock characters and what not.
