We have called them out on them not doing enough, though. I agree that Amiibo should be usable in more than they are in Smash. They are underbaked, I have described their use as "a pet rock" in Smash. I think adding in their functionality online and in other places would be great.

But, on the flip side, you have people who are very much against Amiibo doing ANYTHING noteworthy. And you have people who want Amiibo to unlock characters and what not.

I'm mainly looking at it through the eyes of my 7 year old niece, who is a huge smash addict, and loves amiibos, but is constantly frustrated she can't do more with them -- or do anything at all with them other than 4p/8p smash mode.

I hope you are right since so many people that I know and on GAF still want Marth, Villager and WFT but can't find them unless they pay some insane mark up. I hope they all come back in stock.

I just picked up Little Mac from my friend who bought him for me.

If I get extremely desperate I'll grab the german versions if they are still available. I'm hoping that Nintendo World will re-stock Marth and Villager this week, and I'll grab them from there.

With all the deals I got I have currently paid $10.78 CAN on average per Amiibo and I have all 15 so far.

Just got my wave 2 shipment from Toys R Us and was dismayed to find that instead of zelda and diddy kong, they put in Link and Peach. Is this a common thing for Toys R Us shipping to do? I'm getting concerned for my Lucario pre-order now ;_;

So I was in Saturn in cologne germany today to see if they possibly sell wave 2 early, but of course they didn't. Grabbed a nice amiibo collection poster instead.

They still had a lot of all characters, except only 4 WFT and none of Villager and Marth. They lowered the price by 1€ to 13.99€ since last I was there a week before.

In germany amiibo doesn't seem to be anywhere near the craze in the US. I'm quite confident I'm going to get all figurines I want to get, without having to camp outside of stores or paying ridiculous prices

When I ordered a bunch of Disney Infinity figures during Black Friday from Best Buy, two of the three figures in my first order were instead a wireless mouse and portable power bank. I had a second shipment come in with one of the figures having a severed head. Luckily I was able to do both exchanges in store. My plan was always to cherry pick Amiibo but all it is now is gambling and deciding how much of a safety net I want by ordering and looking for multiples.

By and large, resellers aren't amassing hordes of things. That's economically stupid. If you want to make money, you buy things that are undervalued and sell them. You can make a lot more money, and take far less risk, by buying and selling immediately. Then you take that money and re-invest it into something else. You make more money that way than waiting for your crate of Marths to dry-age in the fridge and selling them for $100 in a year versus $75 today. (Not to mention the fact that the longer you wait, the more risk you take: that Nintendo will actually reprint them, that this is a temporary fad and demand will drop out without Nintendo even having to reprint them, etc.)

Got nervous, so in addition to my pre-ordered Shulk, I pre-ordered all the non exclusive wave 3 figures there as well for in store pick up. Luckily they don't charge until I actually go in there to pick them up, so I can still hit up other places first. I also have Metaknight on pre-order for in-store pick up at Best Buy, but I sat on my hands with Lucario. I'll try and get one on launch day, but if I can't I'll just have to go to ebay (with my head hanging low). Keeping an eye on the Rosalina page, but I may also chance that one as well.

As of right now, I have all that have been made available in the US. I got real lucky with Diddy, Mac, and Zelda, as I arrived at my nearest Target right as they were stocking them on the shelves. I fear I won't be so fortunate with Luigi, Pit, and Falcon though. I'll keep on it though.

Some scalpers are buying out the stock in places though. I agree though, it's what I plan on doing. I buy one for myself, and then an extra one to sell if I think it will become hard to find. I figure this way I can manage the costs of collecting amiibos. I'll sell them right away, probably two weeks or so after they go for sale on retail.

I have a really nice suggestion for displaying your figures. I use these for my Disney Infinity and now for my amiibo.

Michaels sells baseball bat display cases that open up in the front via magnet and hangs on the wall. You can just pop out the brackets that would hold a bat and voila, super classy case for your amiibo 😉 They're $60 but a lot of the time they're half off or you could use those 40% off coupons that are always floating around.
