I finally found Villager and Marth (with better facial paints and non-bent sword) so I'm done until December 14.
Found out this week I have a baby on the way, perfect time to get addicted to collecting amiibo. Compared to games, they are a far more affordable collectable if you are smart and space out your purchases.
I have four so far, excited to get more.
The problem are those ones that you have to buy immediately or face them being sold out!
So I bought the Link Amiibo the other day. I was under the impression that you get to store your level data on to the Amiibo in Smash Bros. That is what Nintendo's video leads you to believe.
The damn Amiibo is like a virtual friend that you fight against. That is crap....
Not exactly sure what else you can even do with these things? Dress up my Mii with clothes representing my Amiibo?
Sure hope Nintendo releases a game built for these damn toys.
The GAME in Churchill Square, Brighton was selling Amiibos for £11.99 rather than £10.99, all they had stocked seemingly was Marth, Fox and Donkey Kong.
I feel like at some point they're going to have to release some big game to tie all these in together.

Alright got some sales data to share:
Figure/WTD/YTD
Mario/1/10
Link/3/18
Yoshi/3/9
Pikachu/1/8
Kirby/2/11
Donkey Kong/1/7
Marth/0/4
Samus/1/5
Peach/1/7
Fox/1/8
Skylanders and Infinity sell about 3x that much each week.
So as far as my store is concerned these are a bust.
Note: sales week does start Saturday or Sunday for us.

Mmm, maybe thats not a bad idea. We have like 2 or 3 warhammer stores in the city. I always tired to use real art paint, because thats the one I had.
Can someone explain the skylanders/disney infinity games to me?
What happens when you scan a toy on those games?

And one of their Skylanders/Infinity displays for comparison. Yes, one of. There's another too, it's smaller but was crowded so I couldn't really take a pic.

They become playable characters. In Skylanders, at least to my understanding, they all have different powers. You'll have parts of the game where characters with certain powers have advantages over something or other. I've never played it, but from what I understand it offers a lot more of a sandbox for you to play with the figures.
So is it open world or stages?
And what is the "toolbox" that is always mentioned?
I saw a video of a "spiderman stage" and it looked pretty linear and hold your hand. Looked pretty boring
I'm curious to see why WFT is so popular

Interesting. How many are sitting unsold?
It's clear that the people who purchase Amiibo generally buy multiple ones since they're all around 8-10 LTD other than Link. As expected, a fairly niche product that I love...hopefully retailers are willing to stock more.
Only number I remember of total stock is Mario, and he has something like 48 still in the back and 12 or so on the floor. Marth was only 4 total shipped and he went quite fast.
And yeah I realized I forgot WFT and villager they are both sold out however.
60 Mario to 4 Marth? Jesus that's some uneven shipment.
My local mall EB Games only received 6 Amiibo; Mario, Link, Samus, Kirby, Pikachu and WFT.

What in the world led you to think you'd be storing level data? I think the onus is on you to understand what you're going to be doing with it before you buy it. There's loads of information online about them.
There is a video Nintendo put out showing some kid sucking at Smash Bros. He goes home and buys the Mario Amiibo and comes back. Games shows he is level 50 and everyone says "someone has been practicing".
I also mentioned that in my previous post. So that is what led me to believe it stores your level data..
Here is the very misleading video

How is that video misleading? I mean, the kid even says: "They fight with you as he was reading the back of the package of the amiibo."

The video is misleading. Deny it all you want. They purposely make it look like you are these characters. At no point does the commercial show that it is a virtual fighter controlled by the cpu.
And it is very easy to judge the commercial differently when you already know what the Amiibo is used for in Smash Bros. I watched this commercial knowing nothing about the Amiibo.
Either way, it is pretty damn useless. Unless you are some weird kid with no friends.

My Amiibo is only level 24 and he beats me pretty regularly. I feel dirty.
