I'm surprised at how well the mirror shield came out. If people started selling (competently) custom painted alt colours, I'd definitely pay for a Gravity / Phazon / Light Suit repaint of Samus.

Do the Amiibos work inside of the package like Skylanders do or do you have to take them out in order to use them for gaming purposes?

Just curious. Couldn't find an answer on this.

You have to take them out, they have a metal strip in the packaging that blocks the figure from making contact with anything.

You have to take them out of the packaging. And I finally did. And boy they are fun to play with actually. I opened Mario at first, but then I opened the rest. I have to be honest with myself, and I know I'm never gonna sell them, so I might as well use them for what they are intended for :-)

I'm having fun with them :-)

So those massive stands of plastics are pretty useless in the end if they can come apart in the packaging.

My wife and kids did that this morning during breakfast. Really cool to watch eight FPs learning off of each other, plus it's a super easy way to level them up, AND you get gold/trophies/moves/equipmentwhen you scan them back in. Really satisfied with the Smash functionality.

I'm confused how equipment and special moves works. How do I win equipment? Do I put it on mu aiimbo? Or can I equip characters I use myself online? Or is equipment only for local/single player modes?

I love watching these guys evolve and learn from my tactics. It' s a lot more satisfying that I thought it would be. Here's a fun little anecdote; I took my, then, level 15 Link in to Gaur Plains for some training, and he had no clue what to do. It was then that I realized that I had never taken him on a larger stage with that many platforms. He just ended up jumping around from platform to platform, until he felt comfortable enough to attack, and then he'd jump away.

Also, I wasn't planning on buying all of them, but I think I'm going to go out this week and get 6 more. Thanks, Nintendo.

Where does everyone live? The harder ones to find seem to be Marth and Villager....

As mentioned, they are the hardest to find, along with WFT.
The three of them were produced in smaller quantities, and shipped to stores all sharing the same shipping box (2 units each in a box of 6).

I feel there needs to be more done with the Amiibos. I mean, it's cool that they unlock stuff in other games, but just using them as sparring partners that you can level up in SSB is just so-so and you can't use them online. I mean, sure maybe you can have say a little brother who stinks at the game train his own figure to go against you or something.

I think one cool idea is a different take on spectator mode with Amiibos. Use them against other players Amiibos online and wager gold on them. Then it becomes like online Amiibo cockfighting. XD

Yeah, they should do a little more with them.

I think they're kinda fun to level up since you can customize their moves and mess with their attacks, but it needs to be more.

I like the idea of betting on them. Would be a really fun way to win gold. But you could also wager trophies or those crazy order tickets.

holy shit, i'm so glad the ones i ordered have been arriving without any major issues. only Marth has a warped sword. gonna exchange that asap when Amazon restocks.
You don't have to replace it.(the majority will have that problem anyway)
Boil some water, hold the sword in the water for around 30 seconds it will become very flexible. Straighten the sword out then immediately dip it in ice cold water for 10 seconds.
Repeat but this time keep it in the cold for 30+ seconds.

I may get an Amiibo, gravitating towards Pikachu but may go for Yoshi or Kirby in his place. Mario's always a safe bet, but I think he's too safe/boring. I'll probably get most of them eventually but just one or two for now. I could order one of the more rarer ones like Marth or WFT but no idea if they'll actually be that hard to get in the UK.

This isn't going to be the only Mario amiibo they make so if you don't like this design you can wait for the next one.

I can only believe that that a complete collection of wave 1 sealed and with good manufactured characters with no defects will be worth a lot in the future.

Am I crazy?

Marth and Villager are the hardest ones to find everywhere regardless of location. Glad I preordered Marth online and Villager at GameStop.

I have been finding Villager everywhere. Marth is the only one I have yet to see in the wild. Wii Fit Trainer and Fox have also been pretty elusive.

The only one i want was Samus, out of stock in every store (chile). i found Wii fit trainer, Villager, Marth but i cant find Samus :(

Ok, so this is my full report from San Ysidro, California:

-Toys R Us: No Math, Villager or WFT, Samus and Fox where down to about 4 or 5, everything else had decent numbers.

-Target. Had everything at least 2 of everything, including Marth, Villager and WFT (2 each) but they only had a few and they are also the most expensive place to find amiibos. They told me that those in the aisle where all they had when I asked for other since I wanted to find a nicer looking figure for a friend.

-Wal-Mart. Absolutely destroyed. Only Mario, Pikachu and weird enough, one Samus and 3 WFT, apparently only collector are interested in WFT. I catched the guy just bringing in the last they had, namely MORE mario's and pikachu, a peach and a villager. Took the last two.

-Best Buy. They had nothing at all. They hide what was left on the counter and you had to actively ask for them, I took another villager (the only one they had) and saw only one fox and one link left there. They may restock later.

-Gamestop. Went to 3 different ones and they only had for preorders, or at least they told me that, asked me to come back next week but refused to tell me if the rare ones where going to be available. Preo-ordered Shulk while I was there.

So all in all, I think the worst selling one is going to be WFT, it is not stocked plentifully, but when it is, they seem to not be sold as fast as the other one. Getting a Marth or Villager is going to be the hardest since they do have demand from people who are not collectors (At least two people asked for them while they where buying just one or two amiibos, not all of them), and Nintendo may not produce more. Hopefully they do.

It all depends on how rare/limited exactly the trinity (Wii fit trainer, Marth, villager) ends up to be.

I've opened all of mine except those 3. I'm taking a wait and see approach to see if the aftermarket heats up once wave 1 is done.

As for the rest, a zillion made and sold, I can't see them being worth much even sealed.

This isn't like Skylanders where there were chasers from the very start for a unknown IP/ property many didn't get into until the sequel.

So I'm guessing that TRU sale is over? Any other places with decent deals on these guys that I can pick them up?

I'm tempted to get more, but would really be nice if I didn't have to spend so much on them.

Found villager at target, the paint on his feet was a little off but everything else was perfect. Only missing peach, Kirby, yoshi, and donkey kong from wave 1. I'll grab those next week.

If you jumped on the best buy gamers club deals gaf has been raving about recently then that discount applies to them and comes out to only 40 cents more a figure than the tru deal was. Otherwise wait for christmas and hope for more deals.

Also the VERY VALUABLE Skylanders weren't just produced in limited numbers, they were unbelievabley rare 1 in a million (not exact figures but you get the idea). Aside from those, there were trade show models/giveaways also crazy rare. The store exclusives from year 1 are also worth a little.

With aiimbo's you have nothing like that. Even the hard to find 3 can still be found if you try hard enough/order online and there is a good possibility they will be restocked.

In short if you are hoping to buy gold your best bet is Marth, wft and villager but don't hold your breath they will be all that valuable. It really depends how limited exactly they end up being.

My local Best Buys aren't that great, so I wasn't about to limit where I get my games from.

Sounds like I might be spending more money than I want to if I go get groceries tonight...

So Villager and Marth appear to be very limited run as Marth is gone everywhere and Villager too. Which else is looking to be that way? Any other ones?

Only Fox seems less common out of the rest. Some stores sold out of Links but others had a lot.

Checking online fox looks like he's still readily available. You can still get Villager at Walmart too. Honestly, it looks like Marth is really the only one who's pretty much sold out both online and in store everywhere.

Wouldn't the rare ones be in later waves? I feel like the first wave will sell the best overall because of how fresh it is.
