Anyone else been doing in-store pickup at Best Buy pre-orders?

Do they charge you when you pick them up or when you pre-order them?

I did that the last wave. There's no charge for picking them up in store from a pre-order. You just go to the Pickup area, show them your printed receipt, and they'll probably ask for your ID and the credit card you used to purchase them, and they'll give them to you.

So Best Buy emailed me earlier today saying Diddy and Zelda will be available tomorrow but then they just emailed me saying that Diddy got delayed to the 17th? What the fuck, Best Buy!

I am in a Twitter conversation with them (very hard in 140 characters ha) and just sent them this email:
Hello,
I was asked to email this address. I have many Amiibos pre-ordered through Best Buy. I am more than concerned with how they are being handled. These items are selling out everywhere and scalpers are selling them for upwards of $100 each on eBay. I just want the items I paid for on time.

On 12/11 I received an email stating that Capt Falcon and Luigi Amiibo are delayed till 12/30. I understand this as there was a shipping delay for all retailers. Removed Order #
and

On 12/12 I received an email stating that Little Mac was delayed until 12/19. I do not understand this one. Toys R Us is already selling him, Zelda, and Diddy Kong and sold out of them. I was in a Best Buy today where I have my preorder (Summerville, SC) and held them in my hand. I have a picture that I tweeted you that shows Diddy and Mac. A worker took them from me and put them in the back. Removed Order #

I just got another email at 12:14pm today saying that Diddy now has been moved to 12/17 even though this morning at 7:02am EST I got an email with the Subject : Good news. Your order will be ready for pickup on Sunday, December 14, 2014.‏
"Just a quick note to let you know your order will be here at our SUMMERVILLE SC Best Buy store waiting for you on, Sunday, December 14, 2014. See store address & hours. Please note your credit card has now been charged for this order.

To make sure everything gets to its rightful owner, we'll need to see:
1. Your state-issued photo ID
2. The credit card you used when you placed this order: MasterCard ****************
3. The order number listed below or a copy of this e-mail"

New email:
"An update on your pre-order status

Hello Nicholas,

You recently received an e-mail stating your pre-ordered item below was available for pick up, at which time you were charged for the product.

We want to let you know there has been a change to the release date of the pre-ordered item. The new release date is 12/17/2014. If that is okay with you, and you accept the change, you don't have to do anything. Be assured the charge for this item will be reversed and you will be refunded until the item is available. We're very sorry for this inconvenience. "

This is all very inconvenient and stressful. I am trying to secure gifts for my daughter's Christmas. I preordered them so there would not be any issues like this. I also have all of Wave 3 ordered through Best Buy and the remaining Wave 2 characters. Could you please let your company know that it is hard to trust that my orders will be fulfilled with all of this confusion? I am concerned my figures will be sold from under me as they are sitting in some of your store shelves right now.

Thanks,
Nick

I work at Best Buy. We only got a total of 12 Zelda's, 4 Little Mac's and 2 Diddy Kongs.

Here's our Amiibo demo.

More Amiibos. These ones we get ongoing stock of.

I like to use Amiibo for it's intended use and not resell them like most scalpers whom I despise looking for personal gain at the expense of others looking to genuinely enjoy the product. They can go fuck themselves. Hence my opened boxes.

My Amiibo collection so far. Just missing Villager and Marth. I'm gonna have trouble finding all the other store exclusives like Rosalina from Target, and etc.

Oh, that's good. But I actually asked my question wrong, lol. I meant do they charge you online the moment you pre-order or when you go to the store to get it? Like, when is your credit card charged for the product?

BTW when you reserve online you are not guaranteed to get an amiibo. We received tons of reservations for these in which we had to decline because obviously of limited stock.

so the only way to get all the amiibos is to work at Gamestop? jesus christ

This isn't a GameStop but yes, knowing people is generally the best bet. Hell they didn't put out the wave 2 amiibos until yesterday when I asked and someone had to look it up. They thought those came out after Christmas lol.

Edit: and yes Zelda is the most common of this wave. Her stock was comparable to Kirby link Mario etc

I lived this first hand. Pre-ordered the mash bundle in store and the day it released... they didn't have it.

If you are going to pre-order your best chance is online with shipping or a store you really thrust.

This is some BS, btw.

Wait. I preordered for store pick up on Cap at BB. They charged my gift card and used my promo code. So if its canceled when I get there will I get my promo code back?

Found Little Mac and Diddy at Target even though the website said it was out of stock.

Why am I getting into this, I'll never find Marth and Villager anyways :(

I was told at BB today the register couldn't check me out because they weren't in the system. Held them in my hand and have preorders and they would not let me have them. You are telling me they let you have them? I mean there are perks for working places but that is kind of fucked up for the rest of us.

Obviously not. I casually walked into Target on release day and bought the initial 12. For the new three, I again just stopped by a local EB and picked them up. No preorders. If you just shop around on release day, you should be able to have your choice of figures.

I live in the Toronto area, so it's not like I don't have competition.

Why is Best Buy postponing everything? It's making me nervous that they won't honor the pre-order, even though I pre-ordered them a while ago.

They charged me a couple days prior to the pickup day.

I just stocked* 6 Zeldas, 6 Little Macs, and 3 Diddy Kongs at my store in Richland, Washington if any fellow GAF members are in the area!

Argh ^_^

Definitively not homogeneous distribution...

Kirby was probably the most difficult to find here after Villager... I've seen only two, and I've visited dozen on shops, and 6-7 on launch day. Only seen a single villager.

I came across dozen of Marth at first (although it's getting rare now) and I still see a WFT from time to time (I finally bought one just in case... I'm not really interested in WFT, but should I have problems to find some figures I want, trading could be a solution).

Nobody really know when wave 2 will hit here, so that'll be an adventure. It's... more difficult sometimes than to catch elusive pokemons.

At least credit card success rate is the one of Master Ball ;)

I've been around several stores in the Portland OR area and nobody has any Mac or Diddy left but Zelda is everywhere. I have a feeling Diddy will be more rare than Mac but it might not be much of a point if both are hard to find.

I am interested in seeing what eBay looks like in another 2 weeks from now.

Ah, okay good to know, thank you! I pre-ordered Sonic, Mega Man, Sheik, Meta Knight, and Ike from Best Buy just now.

I didn't pre-order Bowser, King Dedede, or Toon Link because I feel like they will be pretty popular.

I guess I just need to somehow get Lucario pre-ordered (can't believe I missed the second TRU run) and Rosalina when she goes up and I will feel pretty good. Already have Shulk pre-ordered.

Sadly, I'm 99% sure when the Rosalina Amiibo comes out, most casual people will be like "Oh look, Elsa from Frozen with a cute yellow magical star-shaped bird pet!!11" ... -_- Even if it's that way I'm sure they will buy it so that's good.

I've still not seen a Marth in person. Not even on launch day. I'm pretty sure it's very YMMV.

So I'm competing against Frozen fans for the preorder? Bring it on!

this is really annoying. Rosalina was born 6 years before this movie

i hate those animation movies

Ah...shit.

Just went to the same TRU than yesterday and bought Pikachu, Yoshi and Zelda...10$/ea. is the sweet spot for me.

I'm starting to have a nice little collection. :D

I saw a stack of Marths and Villagers at Target on day one, but didn't buy any because I was getting them from Amazon. When I opened then box, Marth's packaging was bent. I opened my Villager to use and figured I could get one later to keep boxed and display or whatever. LOL.

Wait, did he said that? When did he said that? lol

He said it at the Nintendo e3 panel. You can look it up.

In other news, my Amazon Little Mac says "shipping now," so we'll see how that turns out.

I'm so upset with myself because of the opposite. When they launched and Toys R Us had the 3 for $30 deal they had no less than 10 of Marth and Villager. Even though I thought to myself that I should get them in case they become hard to find I still ignored it and got three others.

Have all of the Wave 3 figures I can reserve at GameStop reserved, got Lucario yesterday luckily from the second TRU batch and I just reserved Meta Knight on Best Buy's site.

Bring on this Rosalina pre-order!

I only went to Gamestop and Best Buy on launch. I've seen 2 Villagers the entire time too, but was holding off until later to buy them all. Villager was one of the top ones I wanted to own too :-(

I didn't think I'd be collecting them all so fast due to this discontinuation bs. I was hoping to buy one a month and then splurge on a huge sale. Didn't even go to TRU for that sale, even though it was incredibly tempting.

Went to a few stores yesterday. Only wave 2 I saw was a single Diddy at Gamestop, didn't buy it since I'm not interested in the character. Going to check a nearby TRU after work to see what their stock looks like. Going to keep tabs on that Rosalina pre-order page since her and (eventually) Palutena are the ones I told myself I would pick up since Amiibos were first announced.

I'm so confused about the wave 2 rollout

I went to best buy Friday morning to get diddy kong, the guy in the game department said "they do come out today, but our shipment isn't in yet, we should have it by Sunday"

I went to toys r us later that day and saw a bunch of Zeldas. The guy said "we didn't get the other guys in, I'd check tomorrow or Sunday"

What is going on. I even went to a target and they didn't even have any Zeldas. The staggered release by retailer got me confused. Now peeps itt are saying best buy isn't getting them till next week.

I just want to buy diddy kong :(

Welp, managed to find the last two little macs at my local store so i grabbed those along with (the least derpiest) Zelda. I really don't like having to go around looking for these things, I was hoping to just casually collect them, but they are in such limited supply its really irritating

Toys R Us consistently seems to have the largest stock of Amiibo's so I'm sure they will have a decent showing of their exclusive figure when they come out in stores.

This makes me feel a little bit better. I guess I'll check TRU frequently around launch unless they put a new batch up for pre-order that I don't miss, ha.

I was hoping for the perfect-world scenario too :(

Reading this thread a few weeks ago I saw quite a few posts saying Marth and Villager were common so I just ignored them and didn't worry about finding them later. :(
